White distilled vinegar is a kitchen staple in most pantries. Little do most know, that it has the power to save the world. Well, maybe not save the world but if you were only able to buy one thing to take care of most of your indoor and outdoor household needs, from making a salad to making your dogs coat shine, vinegar would be the one size fits all solution. These are just a few of possibly millions of uses of white distilled vinegar.
For those acidic soil loving plants, you can mix a cup of vinegar, with about a gallon of water and water them with the mixture every once in awhile. It will increase acidity of the soil and keep the plants happy
You can help preserve cut flowers by adding 2 T. vinegar to a quart size vase.
You can kill weeds, without toxic chemicals, by pouring vinegar full strength on the weeds.
You can remove stains and mineral deposits from clay and other material type planter pots. Fill a sink or tub with half water and half vinegar and soak the pot for an hour or more.
Cats do not like the smell of vinegar, so it can be very effective when sprayed on things or on areas you want to keep them away from. If you have plants you don’t want them to eat or an area you do not want them on, just mix a little water and vinegar and spray it on the plant or area. You might have to repeat a few times till they learn to stay away, if it is something they have already been doing.
To give your doggie a shiny coat, mix together a cup of vinegar and 4 cups of water. Spray it all over your dogs coat and cover your eyes, cause he’s gonna shine. Well, his coat will be shinier than it was, at least.
Rub some undiluted vinegar on your dogs ears to keep them from scratching.

If your relaxing ritual of tea has turned into unrelaxing hard water deposits on the inside of your tea kettle, fill it with some water and 1/2 cup of vinegar. Let it sit overnight. If it is a very bad case of build up you can add vinegar full strength and boil it in the kettle for about 4 minutes. Let it sit and cool, then rinse.
To get rid of hard water build up on faucets soak a cloth or paper towel in vinegar. Wrap it around the faucet and leave it for an hour or longer. For really old build up it may take awhile. Try leaving it over night and repeating, if necessary.
If you have a shower head with build up add some vinegar to a sandwich bag. Hang the bag, with the shower head sitting in the bag, with it being kept in place with a rubber band or tie. Let it sit for about an hour, then run the water.
To bring out the color and clean you carpet, mix together 1 cup of vinegar for every gallon of water. Brush it throughout the carpet. Make sure you test out a patch on your carpet first, to make sure there is no bleeding or reactions with your particular carpet.
You can shine up pennies by leaving them in some vinegar overnight. I know, who cares about shinny pennies, but it works and you wont believe how pretty and new they will look.
