Popular internet personality Tucker Max, a writer best known for his website TuckerMax.com, is going to release a new movie for theaters. It will be based on his best-selling book, I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell, which has become a New York Time’s bestselling book for three years in a row (2006, 2007, 2008).
Who is Tucker Max?
As an internet surfer since the late 1990s, I’ve seen my share of legendary internet writers rise to fame. And as a writer myself, I’ve looked upon internet celebrities like Tucker Max and blunt satirists such as Maddox with great respect.
Tucker Max is an ordinary guy who graduated from University of Chicago (my home city) and later at Duke University. He did not start as a professional writer at all; his website TuckerMax.com was started as a bet and surprisingly drew in millions of views from people all over the world, breaking online records.
I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell Movie – Release Date – Late 2009
Tucker Max’s best-selling novel, I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell, is going to be adapted into a feature-length movie for theaters. In his latest news announcement on December 8th, 2008, the movie is going to be released next year; the earliest date is May, ranging to as late as September in 2009.
The I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell movie is going to be loosely based on Tucker’s novel’s story, and will be directed by Bob Gosse. The movie will revolve around Tucker Max, played by Matt Czuchry, crashing his friend’s bachelor party, ruining the groom’s reputation with a lie, and his pursuit of drunk adventures with other misdemeaning trouble-makers. It will be a great American comedy film in late 2009 and will be the first movie to bring Tucker Max and Maddox’s signature fratire genre to the big screen.
The I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell movie website has been up for a while now and offers the latest news and announcements from the writer himself on the development of the film.
Why is Tucker Max So Popular in the Online World?
– Tucker Max, like Maddox, are the founders of a new genre of literature heralded as fratire, which is a unique blend of biting satire, social commentary, humor, and anthem to masculinity. Much to the dismay of people who hate these guys with their guts, there is no denying that they are almost always right on certain issues – despite the purposefully entertaining and absurd ideas they offer to solve them. Some of the articles both writers have written have reached a cult-status among many internet surfers in the teenage and young adult demographic and all have agreed that the material is ground-breaking in its blend of insight and hilarity.
-Tucker Max writes short stories on TuckerMax.com about various drunken encounters, sexual misadventures, and highly uncensored politically incorrect situations. Like Maddox’s website, The Best Page in the Universe , Tucker Max is one of the most controversial online writers of all time. I’ve been reading these guys since I was thirteen years old, and their new updated stories and material keep me cracking up so hard that my roommates think I’ve gone insane.
The Fratire Genre – The New Movement of Satirical Literature
Oh yeah, it’s controversial. Many teenagers and college students regard as TuckerMax.com and I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell as one of the best pages on the internet. Maddox Xmission is a close ‘friend’ website and the two share a common readerbase.
They receive a lot of hate mail due to their controversial subject matter (which receives millions of hits per year from people of all ages). Tucker Max once posted a story about his involvement with Katy Johnson, who was Miss Vermont in the year 1999. A lawsuit was filed against him for invasion of privacy and like many events throughout the years, it wasn’t the first retaliatiory attack from an angered reader. She later dropped the lawsuit and Tucker continued to post on the website.
Majority rules.
Controversy
Like all great pioneers of art brave enough to entertain readers with wild and mature stories, Tucker Max has received lots of different criticism and acclaim from reader feedback . Here are two actual reader feedback quotes about the book:
– “I am completely baffled as to how you can congratulate yourself for being a womanizer and a raging drunk, or think anyone cares about an idiot like you. Do you really think that exploiting the insecurities of others while getting wasted is a legitimate thing to offer?”
And then there are others who praise his striking wit and skilled writing rhetoric:
– “I find it truly appalling that there are people in the world like you. You are a disgusting, vile, repulsive, repugnant, foul creature. Because of you, I don’t believe in God anymore. No just God would allow someone like you to exist.”
And here is one I just couldn’t leave out:
-“You are the coolest person I can even imagine existing. If you slept with my girlfriend, it’d make me love her more.”
When dealing with the ideas Tucker writes about and the main intentions behind the entertainment of fratire, it is pointless to get so worried about the mature elements of alcohol and sex in the story. One of the greatest goals of fratire is to expose these taboos in society and poke fun at how big of a deal we as people make out of fictional stories – especially when the stories have a hidden intent and message about the way people behave.
I can’t wait for I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell to come out in theaters. It will be the first bit of the fratire genre to hit the big theaters. As a writer I’ve looked upon Tucker Max and Maddox as my inspirational idols, and I will sure as hell be satisfied if the world can see this cult cultural movement become famous.
