Kelly Clarkson, the “American Idol” Season 1 winner, saw the first single from her upcoming album, “All I Ever Wanted,” transmitted digitally to radio stations Tuesday, January 13. The single, “My Life Would Suck Without You,” was officially digitally released on January 16.
“All I Ever Wanted” is Clarkson‘s first album since June 2007 when “My December” was released. “All I Ever Wanted” is her fourth studio album. The new album is hoped to be more successful than the last, since “My December” barely broke the one million sales mark (platinum). Kelly Clarkson’s first album, 2003’s “Thankful,” sold nearly 3 million and 2004’s “Breakaway” sold 6 million.
Clarkson blogged about her new album in “Random Thoughts By Me” on WordPress on January 9, letting her fans know how excited she was about “All I Ever Wanted” and the release of the first single from it. She lightheartedly pokes fun at the album’s artwork: “…they have definitely photo-shopped the crap out of me…” But she doesn’t care, she says, because “whoever she is, she looks great.”
Clarkson also admits to being a fan of the “Twilight” series. She told her fans that she, her family and friends were all addicted to the novels and that “…all searching for our very own personal ‘edward‘ (a reference to Edward Cullen, the lead vampire protagonist in the popular series) …”
She revealed that she thought the soundtrack of “…’twilight’ is awesome! i can’t stop listening to ‘flightless bird, american mouth’!” The song she refers to, “Flightless Bird, American Mouth,” for those who do not own the soundtrack, is performed by Iron & Wine.
Ryan Seacrest entertained Kelly Clarkson from London on his radio show “On Air with Ryan Seacrest” January 14 (KIIS – FM). After revealing that the British make fun of her accent (Clarkson is from Texas) and bring up George Bush. She said she is quick to let people know, “And Beyonce and the Dixie Chicks and a lot of cool people…”
Kelly Clarkson apparently does not misunderestimate president George W. Bush’s coolness.
After talking about the video to “My Life Would Suck Without You” and suggesting renaming the song, “Marriage,” Ryan Seacrest mentioned reading her blog daily and asked about her addiction to the “Twilight” series. When he jokingly said that he had attempted to “become Edward,” Clarkson said, “Ah, if you ever do, call me.”
Seacrest seems to be doing well with the ladies lately. “American Idol” debuted and bikini model Katrina Darrell wanted to make out with the host of the show as well.
Seacrest’s love life aside, is there a connection between “Twilight,” the Edward Cullen thing, and “My Life Would Suck Without You”? There seems to be the suggestion…
The entire vampire wannabe lovefest (Ryan Seacrest – Kelly Clarkson interview) can be heard on Clarkson‘s new website Kellyofficial.com. The new single, “My Life Would Suck Without You,” can also be heard there.
“All I Ever Wanted” is scheduled for a release date of March 17, 2009.
