With many of us struggling to keep our lives going, sometimes its the little things that we tend to forget. At holidays like Valentine’s Day, many actually feel put upon to give a gift to their significant other. Well, you shouldn’t, there are ways to show them how much they mean to you on this special day with either not having to spend anything or by spending very little.
Here are some quick ideas should you decide you would like to do something special for the one you love.
1) Plan a picnic. Use what you have at home, in your cabinets. Since we all have a bed, we all have linens. So pick out a nice sheet from your linen cabinet, this will be for laying on the ground, if you choose a place that doesn’t have tables. Even if you only have a twin bed, the sheet is big enough for two to sit on. If you do choose a place that has tables, you can use it to drape the table and look elegant for your significant other. Create a simple lunch for two. A nice fresh salad made with lettuce and tomatoes works, throw on a little oil, vinegar, salt, pepper, you have a meal, place it in a container, or even a zipper bag. Make a couple of small sandwiches for each of you, If you want to make them look fancy and all you have is the infamous white bread, cut off the crust, make it look like a nice pretty square, you could even pop the bred in the toaster for a couple minutes to give it a pretty golden color. Place what ever cold cuts you want on it, these can be put into a container together or again, good ol’ zipper bag. Fruit always wins the heart, even sharing an apple. If you cut it in half, from stem down, it looks like a heart. For desert, go simple, if you have somethings sweet at home, like chocolate chip cookies, take a couple with you. If you want to serve the special meal on plates, grab a couple from your cabinet some utensils and you are ready to go. If you have a large enough basket to place everything in, go for it. Other wise, use any container to place your goodies in. You could lay your sheet over the top of the box you use to make it look nice. If you have candles, take a couple with you, if you are planning an evening meal, this will dress up the occasion for you.
2) Cook a nice dinner, if you have the basic staples at home, grab a cook book and get to cooking, the best place to get anyone is through the stomach. It will mean a lot to your special someone if you make them a nice meal. It can even be as simple as opening up a can of soup and cooking it or making a grilled cheese sandwich. It is the thought behind the effort that means more.
3) Write a special poem. If you aren’t sure about this one, no problem, as long as it comes from the heart, it will mean a lot.
4) Take a nice long walk with your special someone. Just walking in the moonlight can be romantic.
What ever you decide to do, it is best to just keep it simple.
