Magical Items out of Place
There are certain objects which have been unearthed throughout history which simply do not fit!
They do not fit into the normal course of events which show the pattern of social evolution on the planet. Many people have speculated that these items are from another world; another time or another dimension. It is up to the reader to make their own minds up but the facts surrounding these items are beyond doubt.
The Baalbek Platform of Lebanon
This is one of the largest single pieces of quarried stone in the world. Clearly it is an amazing feat of ancient Industrial construction. This has lead to some very extreme ideas about its true purpose. Was it made by a civilization far more advanced than we give them credit for? Or did they have help from another quarter?
Clearly this is an item that has been placed outside of our normal concepts of what was possible and what should still be there as evidence.
The Antikythera Device
This is a very early type of computer, which might have been used for navigation and the calculation of the stars. Dated somewhere around 150-100 BC, the whole mechanism is clearly out of place with the ideas of the history and progression of the computer. This type of machine was not conceived publicly until Charles Babbage in the Victorian era.
By then science had toyed with the idea of a machine which could carry out calculations for important reasons. Clocks were an important part of naval navigation and combined with star positions, ships found any machine which could tell them where they were, priceless.
So if there had been an early breakthrough with such a device the world would have beaten a path to it very quickly.
The Bagdad battery
In 1936 Wilhelm Konig made a discovery which would lead him to believe that ancient Mesopotamia had actually invented the electric battery. He came across several vases which held all the characteristics of electric storage cells for the use of electro-plating. Now this shows an understanding of science well in advance of the civilizations surrounding it. Which poses the question: why did they not advance it even more?
As will the Antikythera Device it shows a people in the position of technology far too advanced for them, and they simply wasted it. They did not seem to posses the foresight to exploit these gifts to the full. Maybe the truth was they could not see the point? Why would they want to be any more powerful than they already were? Or had they been given a glimpse into that future and did not like what they had seen? Maybe they thought the world was not ready for such horror?
Science fiction is full of stories where travels go back in time to present a gift which will transform that civilisation several centuries beyond what it is capable of. But maybe wiser heads prevailed and they deliberately held back things which would accelerate the problem?
Historians and Archaeologists have often wondered why primitive man had never advanced more than the flint axe. Why did they not go on to invent the wheel and build better houses? The usual response is to suggest that clearly they had gone on for centuries just making flint axes and where happy with that. The truth is a little more complex than that.
On examining these axes in detail they show a high degree of sophistication and forethought. If they had wanted they could have produced an even more advanced axe. Improve upon it and gone on to make other things. So the mechanism of deep thought and reason was clearly there, only something held them back.
In 1838 Colonel Richard Vyse examined the Pyramids in Egypt only to discover a metal plate embedded within it. The plate could not have been placed there after the pyramid’s construction and bust have been part of the early assembly. On tests, it has been show that the smelting of such mettles were only recorded to around 1200 BC. The Great Pyramid is thought to have been built around 2600 BC.
This is not the only piece of advanced metal engineering which does not fit into place. In 316 AD the Chinese General Chou Chu was buried with a metal belt buckle. When his grave was examined in the 1950s, it was found to be Aluminium; a metal thought to have been used industrially only in the nineteenth century.
There are countless other examples of early civilizations achieving things not normally attributed to them.
A bigger puzzle is the invention of writing. Cuneiform is thought to be one of the oldest forms of writing and clearly civilisation as we know it took off from there. So how did it come about, and why did man wait for so many centuries before inventing it? Did they simply not know, or were they waiting for the right one to come along? There have been other early languages which are almost lost to us now. Enochian is thought to be the language of the angels and has many magical connections.
