Makeup is one thing almost every woman uses. Here’s how to apply foundation, concealer and powder, along with a few more tips:
Before applying any makeup, you should have a clean face. Wash with a gentle cleanser, follow with an astringent, and then apply a moisturizer. Picking a great moisturizer is key. Choose one that goes with your skin tone. Figure out if you’re oily, mixed, dry, or anything else. They also have moisturizers that help redness in your skin, and with shine. Pick one that’s right for you and makes your face feel and look smooth and beautiful.
Next, apply a foundation base. A lot of people don’t do this, but once you start, you’ll wonder why you never thought of it before. A base will fill in any pores, and add a little extra moisture and hold to your skin. It will leave you with a smooth canvas to apply makeup onto. A good base to try is Beyond Natural by Revlon. This base is clear and will not add any extra tint to your moisturizer. It also leaves your face incredibly soft and ready for foundation. Using a base also helps to keep foundation from slipping and will help it to remain on your face until you’re ready to wash it off.
The next step is to apply your foundation. Be sure it matches your skin tone perfectly. To find one that works for you, test them on your jaw line, which is where you will find the most exact match. I prefer using cream foundations as they’re easier to blend and do not leave you looking “cakey”. TruBlend by Cover Girl is a great foundation that offers complete coverage. Apply this to your face using either a foundation brush, sponge, or using your fingers. Be sure to start in the center and blend outwards towards your jaw line and a little down your neck to be sure you have no lines. From here you can apply a concealer. I usually put it on after foundation as to not wipe it off accidentally. Apply sparingly to any imperfections that you would like to cover.
Next, apply a translucent powder. Take a large fluffy powder or kabuki brush and put it into the powder. Tap off any excess. Apply the powder in light circular motions to help set as well as blend your foundation. Powder will help your makeup stay put, as well as take away any shine and help you look natural.
A great made up face starts with a great start. That start includes a flawless base. By doing this, you are making the first step into becoming a beauty queen. Anyone can apply makeup, but to apply it well takes knowledge, skill, and hard work.
