Many parents probably think their children play too many video games and want to get them something differently this Christmas. A board game is a good Christmas present for children but most kids have played the classic board games enough time to last the rest of their life time. If your child likes comic books, movies, cartoons or video games from Marvel Comics then you can now spice up many classic board games with alternative Marvel Comics versions.
Marvel Comics Alternatives of Classic Board Games: X-Men Monopoly
Instead of collecting properties like in the original Monopoly game players are trying to form the best team of Mutants. Each player will get to choose between 8 pewter characters and each of the “properties” is a mutant you recruit to join your team.
Marvel Comics Alternatives of Classic Board Games: Marvel Stratego
In Stratego players use strategy to place different level members of their armies such as general, colonel, etc. Each piece has a point value and the pieces are faced so that the opponent can’t see them. The players then move their pieces until one player “attacks” the other. Which ever piece has the higher number value wins. Hidden somewhere on the board both teams will have a flag and the winning team is the team that captures the flag first.
Marvel Comics Alternatives of Classic Board Games: Marvel Scene-It?
Scene-It? has become one of the most popular recent board games and has spawned many different versions. One of my favorites is Marvel Scene-It? If you’ve never played Scene-It?, it is a trivia board game with trivia cards like Trivial Pursuit but there is also a DVD included that has video trivia questions as well.
Marvel Comics Alternatives of Classic Board Games: Spider-man Operation
One of the more unknown Marvel alternatives to classic board games is Spider-man Operation. Just like in the classic Operation game each player must use tweezers to try and fix Spidey but if you touch the sides the buzzer will go off.
Marvel Comics Alternatives of Classic Board Games: Don’t Wake Hulk
Maybe Don’t Wake Dad isn’t quite as classic as these other games but there is a Marvel alternative so I thought I would include it. In Don’t Wake Hulk characters must try and reach the other side of the board but if they land in the wrong place they will have to set off an alarm. The alarm may or may not wake the Hulk. If you do wake the Hulk then you must go back to the beginning.
Marvel Comics Alternatives of Classic Board Games: Marvel Chess Set
Chess is a classic. The only thing that can possibly make chess better is to use all of your favorite Marvel Characters as the different pieces on the board.
