For most of us we clean all parts of our house that people see all the time, but the Master Bedroom seems to come in last on the cleaning schedule. It is certainly that way for me. Don’t let that be the case any longer, it is time to get that Master Bedroom clean and organized and no better time to clean it all out than Spring.
You will need a plan for your Master Bedroom Spring cleaning. First make sure you have all the cleaning supplies on hand that you will need. Also if you are planning on cleaning out that closet or under the bed, be sure to have any storage containers that you might need. Here are my tips on how to perform your Master Bedroom Spring Cleaning:
Master Bedroom Spring Cleaning Tip #1
First you have to get organized. Start with your closet and sort all clothes and shoes into two piles: what you want to keep and what you can give away. Please all shoes and clothes that you want to give away into large bags and locate the local Goodwill drop off site.
Now clean that closet while it is empty, wash the walls and the baseboards, vacuum the carpet. Then in an organized fashion return the clothes and shoes you are keeping back into the closet. Make sure to also hang up all belts and scarves.
Master Bedroom Spring Cleaning Tip #2
Now it’s time to clean out your dresses and to pick up all clothes from the floor. Sort them just as you did the clothes from the closet and give away anything that you no longer want. Organize your dresser drawers as you put thing away into a sock drawer, underwear drawer, pajama drawer, etc.
Master Bedroom Spring Cleaning Tip #3
Take down the draperies from your Maser Bedroom windows and remove all bed linens. Take any that are dry clean only to the cleaners. The others can be washed in your washing machine. It’s important that you flip your mattress to help maintain the life of the mattress. If you use mattress covers, remove them and wash in hot water and place back on the bed.
If you have rugs in your master bedroom remove them and clean if needed. Wash the windows and if you have blinds, be sure to wash the blinds or dust them. If needed clean the window sill and be sure to open the window and vacuum out any dirt that got into the window well during the winter.
Master Bedroom Spring Cleaning Tip #4
Using a broom, or telescoping duster, remove any cobwebs from the bedroom corners and wipe down the walls removing any stains. Then using soap and water wash the baseboards around the room. Don’t forget to dust the picture on the wall and any knick-nacks that may be on shelves around the room. Also clean the ceiling fan if your room has one.
Master Bedroom Spring Cleaning Tip #5
Night tables and any other décor in the room needs to be dusted and cleaned, including the bed itself. Clean out any books or other stuff that you may have stored in your night stand. Then dust and clean the décor pieces and any lights that may be sitting on the pieces. Don’t forget to wipe down the lampshades.
Master Bedroom Spring Cleaning Tip #6
Now you have cleaned and dusted all the things in the room, it is time to clean the floor. If you have hardwood floors use a cleanser made especially for hardwood floors. If you have carpet them vacuum, using the attachments to get in all corners and under the furniture.
Master Bedroom Spring Cleaning Tip #7
Now begin to put the bedroom back together again bringing only clean things back into the room. Bring the rugs back in and lay them. Then re-hang the window draperies and make the bed with the clean linens.
Your Master Bedroom is now much more clean and much more organized. To keep it this way keep the room picked up, dust and clean on a regular basis and change the linens. Next Spring it may not be quite such a big job to Spring Clean your Master Bedroom.
