The swimsuit competition for the Miss America pageant is supposed to be about fitness, poise and confidence according to the announcer Mario Lopez. Is the competition promoting healthy fitness? In the Miss America pageant, anyone that was fit was eliminated.
The women I saw that looked like they worked out didn’t really have much of a shape up top. All of the physically fit women were eliminated prior to the 12 finalists in the swimsuit competition. The twelve women that were shown parading around in swimsuits probably haven’t worked out in any physically exerting challenge. The flab that shook on each of the contestants’ legs was testimonial to the women not being in good physical shape.
Miss America swimsuit competition was about poise. If you can run around half naked in front of the world and keep your poise, you can speak anywhere as a motivation to a group. If you have the confidence to stay poised in a swimsuit in front of America, you have the confidence to do anything.
Miss America is judged in a swimsuit to show how fit she is. This statement isn’t entirely accurate. Miss America is seen in a swimsuit to excite men. Anyone that has to have their butt or breasts taped can’t be too proud of their body.
As far as the swimsuit competition promoting fitness, all it was promoting with the contestants that wore the swimsuits was thinness. Most of the women trying out for Miss America last night, probably never had a weight issue and if they dieted it was by means of changing their food intake and not exercising. No Miss America contestant looked like she did physical exercises. Everyone’s arms were flabby, and some didn’t even have any shape. Miss America’s contestants also didn’t have fit legs. Everyone’s legs were thin but not fit. I saw jiggling and I don’t mean there tops.
I saw a lot of beautiful women in the Miss America Pageant that their beauty shined from with in and their excitement gleamed in their eyes. These women were truly beautiful.
As far as hairstyles, the long hair that was waved and looked liked it was taken care of was beautiful. The short hair always makes me think someone doesn’t want to work on their hair. From a fashion point of view, the bob hairstyle should never come back into style. It makes women look older and not necessarily in a sophisticated sort of way.
Maybe someday Miss America will promote fitness instead of thinness. Today’s society is getting closer to a healthier outlook. One day Miss America may be poised, confident, and fit. It just won’t be in 2009.
