First and foremost, let me please apologize for the brief hiatus! I ended up not working out on Thursday since I had doubled up on workouts to preface my girls night out this weekend. The good news is that Thursdays are my day to go visit my health coach and weigh in! Scale said I lost SIX pounds last week! I was super surprised, my health coach was excited for me, but advised against that much of a loss in the future. No matter how exciting, six pounds really is not healthy to lose in such a short period of time.
Other than that, I have been continuing to do as much as I can to stay on track. On Thursday I told my health coach that I was planning to head to Fort Worth, TX to have a ‘girls night out’ with some old friends and that drinking would definitely be involved. We collaborated on the best course of action. It is important to understand that though you might be trying to lose weight it is perfectly okay to indulge yourself in moderation. We discussed alcohol’s ‘nutritional’ values and developed a good drinking plan. (Doesn’t that sound horrible!)
Now, my drink of choice is tequila and margaritas. He recommended enjoying a few glasses of red wine to prep myself for the nightclub. Afterall, if it is a buzz you are looking for it is better to get it before you get to the club just to avoid paying such high prices at the bar! I will mention in advance that I AM a responsible drinker and we already had a designated driver committed to our care prior to going out. I bought a fantastic red wine (a four pack in small bottles) that I instantly fell in love with. I am by no means a wine drinker but this wine definitely has be interested in starting! I will have to look up the name of the stuff and post it next time. Red wine is definitely the best wine to drink as far as calories and carb content (and it’s just gosh-darn tasty!).
Beer definitely is not the best choice if you are dieting and planning a night out on the town. It is absolutely loaded with empty calories and is known to make people fat. It stinks because I actually do enjoy a beer or two when I go out. I stuck with margaritas for the night though. They are grossly loaded with calories and carbs as well, but tequila is one of the kinder liquors. Ready to gasp? 4 oz of margarita mix contains 55 carbs and 220 calories! Wholly Moly! I had quite a few… we got rather silly and definitely had the time of our lives. I will say, in my own defense, that we never stopped dancing (except to sip our drinks) so we did get some form of exercise in!
So, back to the real world! That was Saturday night and it is now Monday night. I will also note that while I was away all weekend I did NOT cheat on my diet outside of the alcoholic drinks. I chose salads with grilled chicken, eggs, bacon etc just like I always do. I actually scrambled the weekends worth of breakfast eggs and took them along in a freezer bag. I also took bacon and frozen grilled chicken (cooked). (They are my favorite because they come already seasoned and you can just pull one piece out and zap it in the microwave for 4 minutes and PRESTO! instant meal.) I stashed all my food in my friend’s refrigerator and freezer and was completely prepared to stay on track.
Today I had four piece of bacon for breakfast, one chicken breast with avocado for lunch and itialian seasoned shrimp on a bed of salad greens and broccoli. I snacked on a quarter cup of almonds twice today to fill the void. The whole water drinking thing is going just swimmingly and is so easy since I have that huge water container I spoke of in previous posts. Anyway, just wanted to let you all know that I did not fall off of the band wagon and plan to be here every night this week!
