Every year during the month of December, also known as the Month of Celebrating on the site, Neopets.com has a free “advent calendar” that distributes gifts to its members on a daily basis. All you have to do is visit the Advent Calendar (http://www.neopets.com/winter/adventcalendar.phtml) once a day in December, click “Collect”, and the free gifts and Neopoints will appear in your Inventory.
In past years, the Neopets Advent Calendar would distribute a different set of items to some visitors on a randomly selected day; however, this year everyone received the exact same gifts for each day of the month. This made some users very happy, since the Advent Calendar gave out a Christmas Paint Brush for the second year in a row, although last year only some players got it while others received a Green Apple.
Special Days
Two days out of the month rewarded users with gifts that were very unique in Neopets Advent Calendar history: on one day, TheNeopetsTeam (a.k.a. TNT) gave out small, free sum of NeoCash (50 NC) to all users who collected their free prizes that day; on another day, a free KeyQuest Token was distributed through the Advent Calendar, for players to use as their game piece while playing Neopets’s new, game-board style 3D Multiplayer game.

This past year, Neopians saw some interesting, new and unique items being given out by the Advent Calendar, many of which will increase in profit over time because they are now classified as Retired items; the only way to get them at this point is to buy them from other users’ shops. Items with “Seasonal” or “Holiday” in their name, and some items such as books, wearables (items that can help customize your Neopets), and NeoHome furniture usually see an increase in value during the Holiday Seasons, as many Neopians buy them to display their Christmas spirit. They are also valuable because they can be used or displayed on pets; however, books are one-use only items, meaning they disappear forever once you have read them to a pet.
