Last year I purchased a plastic bottle of Pledge Multi Surface cleaner, and was real pleased with the job it did. I love their newest version even better!
Pledge Multi Surface cleaner now comes in a new 9.7 size, that is designed in a sleek brushed finish, royal blue colored can. The product comes in two scents, Rainshower and Lavender Fresh, I have the Rainshower.
Pledge Multi Surface comes in a tall 9 inch can, with a light blue nozzle. There is no cap on the nozzle, and you have to turn it counter clockwise to open, and in the reverse direction to close. As you turn the cap, according to the arrows printed on top, you will hear two clicks. When you no longer hear any clicks, it’s either open or closed.
The edges of the cap have ridges running vertically, which allow you to get a good grip, even with wet hands. Unlike the liquid version that comes in a plastic spray bottle, this version sprays out in a fine mist.
What Can It Be Used On?
This is a very versatile cleaner, which is what attracted me to it in the first place. It claims to clean: Metal, Wood, Glass, Electronics, Wood laminate, Stainless steel, Mirrors, Plastics, Granite, Marble, Electronics, and Chrome.
The makers, S.C. Johnson & Son, Inc., has a variety of claims printed on this can. It is supposed to clean streak-free while leaving no residue behind. It’s an anti-static formula that is safe for cleaning electronics (you are instructed to spray the cleaner on the cloth first, not directly on the electronics).
You can use this formula to both clean and dust, and it claims to remove dust, dirt and smudges, leaving a streak-free surface. It does not contain the harmful CFCs which are blamed for depleting the ozone layer.
Before using Pledge Multi Surface, you have to shake the can first. Spray the can while holding it upright and about 8″ from surface, and it will emit a fine white mist, almost a foam. This is where I feel this version of the product excels, because the mist clings to my windows, making them easier to clean. I don’t have to worry about the drips and runs down my window, rushing to clean my windows before the product runs onto my floor.
Nobody hates cleaning windows more than I do, I abhor this job! I have a hard time cleaning my windows so that there are no streaks showing when the sunlight shines through them. Oh, they look fine on a cloudy day, but show those streaks when it’s sunny.
Another great benefit to using Pledge Multi Surface is it’s ability to clean both wood and glass. My coffee table and two end tables are made of both wood and glass, and now I can clean the entire table with the same cleaner! Before I needed to be careful not to get my wood cleaner on the glass and vise versa.
This product is new to stores, and I have the Rainshower scent, which really didn’t impress me all that much. It does not smell like the air after a rain, but rather reminds me of Pledge wood cleaner. Next time I will see if it’s available in their Lavender Fresh scent.
Pledge Multi Surface in a can retails for around $5.75, and one can lasts a long time. It cleans exceptionally well on wood, glass, and chrome, but I haven’t tried it on my electronics yet. I have a special cloth that I use for those expensive investments.
As a cleaner, I highly recommend Pledge Multi Surface in their new 9.7 ounce metal can.
