In an age of online purchasing, who doesn’t enjoy ordering products online versus having to make a quick run to the department store, in this care, Target, to pick up the needed items? There is something so fun about getting online; purchasing an item, and then all you have to do is waiting for the item to arrive. With fast shipping, that now can happen overnight. Shopping online can be swift, fast, and less of a headache, than actual store shopping. But what about the cons of shopping online, in this case, Target? Is it more beneficial to shop online? My latest shopping experience started several weeks ago. We had been searching for a fireplace grate, which in Florida, is difficult to find. After giving up in stores around the city, I found a fireplace grate on Target.com, and ordered the item. Here are my pros and cons of my online experience with Target.
Pros and Cons
Not only is it easy to shop Target online, but it is just as easy to pay, and then wait for the package to arrive. The website was easy to maneuver and I encountered no problems in the purchase. After I finished the purchase, I immediately had an email of my purchase, offering me a tracking number to follow.
After receiving my first email from Target giving my tracking information, after going to UPS, I discovered there was no information regarding my package. Over the next few days, I found that every time I went to UPS, there was no information on my package, other than to give me an expected date of arrival.
Two days before the package was supposed to arrive, I received a box from Target. It was too small to be my fireplace grate. When I opened the package, it was not my fireplace grate but a bathroom item. The receipt listed someone else’s name and shipping address.
When I called Target, the customer service was not only helpful, but immediately began an order to send out my fireplace grate; which shipped out the next day. They also walked me through the process of sending back the item I had received. The following day, I received another email from the Target Customer Service, telling me that I did not need to send the item back. And of course, they mentioned that my new fireplace grate was in the mail and gave me a new estimated arrival.
Although initially upset at receiving the wrong item, I was amazed at the excellent customer service of Target. Not only was the phone customer service amazing, but the email support went beyond the normal, by following up twice to make sure I was satisfied. My Target experience was overall satisfying, even with the hurdle of receiving the wrong product.
