The fifth boss fight in Resistance 2 is against the mighty Marauder and his minions. Although this battle gives you plenty of freedom, it remains one of the tougher boss fights in the game. Here are some tips to help you defeat the Marauder in Resistance 2.
Location: Plantation House in Cocodrie, Louisiana
Reward: Bronze Trophy for Resistance 2- Big Game Hunter
Recommended Weapon: L23 Fareye and LAARK
The L23 Fareye is the standard sniper rifle in Resistance 2. Its secondary fire will slow down time to give you an accurate aim. The LAARK is the most effective weapon against the Marauder.
You will be fighting the Marauder in a plantation house within Cocodrie, Louisiana. However, you must first get pass its Chimera minions.
The Plantation House is already occupied with Chimera. You will need to invade it and kill all of Chimeras inside.
Before that, it is wise to snipe the Chimera from a distance with the L23 Fareye. Keep an eye out for the windows and second balcony for any wondering Chimeras. Most of them charge at you from the front door after you managed to snipe one in the building. So direct most of your attention in that area.
As a general rule, aim for headshots. This is especially important against shield-wielding Ravagers, which others will be a pain to fight otherwise. If the enemies managed to get close to you, switch over to the .44 Magnum and start blasting away with the exploding bullets.
After waiting a little bit to see if any more Chimera will come out of the plantation house, go charge in the building and take out the rest of the group. They should be hiding on the second floor.
After eliminating every Chimera in the building, get ready to defend the plantation house since a new batch of Chimera is heading straight your way.
It is a good idea to snipe from the second floor balcony to take out the Auger-equipped Steelheads and the aforementioned Ravagers. When you run out of bullets, switch to a weapon more effective at a closer range, head for the stairs to the first floor and start attacking any Chimera that charge in the plantation house.
Once you clear out the area, head back to the plantation house immediately if you went outside.
The Marauder appears instantaneously after you kill the last of its minions.
It has two deadly attacks. One is where the Marauder shoots multiple fire balls that can kill you in one hit if you get hit by them. Another is where it spits out a fire seed that spread like roots, similar to a spider grenade, into a large surrounding area. If you get caught in this attack for a long period of time, you will die.
Both attacks aren’t that hard to avoid. Simply keep moving and never stand in the same place for too long should keep you safe as long as you don’t fight the Marauder head on.
You have many weapon choices to fighting the Marauder. The LAARK and Marksmen are located in the attic of the plantation house. You can also get the Bullseye and Auger from enemy drops. Finally, you have the Magnum and Fareye from your loadout.
The LAARK is the most effective and probably the only weapon you need in the boss fight. If you ran out of ammo, switch to the Bullseye and use its secondary fire option to help finish the Marauder off.
Although you have the freedom to go anywhere in the big arena, it is best to stay on the second balcony. It makes it easier to dodge and attack if you do so. Run around the second balcony until you catch the Marauder facing the other way. Fire away until it faces you directly; then run the other way around the balcony. To make things easier, position yourself to a corner so that the fire ball attack won’t hit you when you turn the corner to run away. Rinse and repeat the same process and the Marauder will fall.
Congratulations on beating the Marauder in Resistance 2. Now walk over its body to a newly open path to continue the game.
