Review: Tennessee Pride Jumbo Sausage, Egg and Buttermilk Sandwiches

by yup tab

I knew my wife and I would be going to work at roughly the same time this morning so, the other day, I was looking for something that was simple to make for breakfast, didn’t cost a fortune and would provide a filling meal.

After some searching, I decided on a box of Tennessee Pride Jumbo Sausage, Egg and Buttermilk sandwiches.

This wasn’t the first time I’ve seen the Tennessee Pride brand but, for some reason, I never purchased it before. The sandwiches, which consist of egg and sausage on a buttermilk biscuit, were similar to hot sandwiches we usually get a McDonalds or another fast food restaurant. We have also bought similar sandwiches at the store from other brands but were very disappointed in them; which is why I’ve been hesitant to try this brand.

However, after having a sandwich this morning, I am definitely impressed.

There are a couple things that are attractive about the Tennessee Pride brand. The first of these things is the price. I bought a box of 8 sandwiches for $6.86; about 86 cents each. This is a significant savings when you compare it to what you would pay at a fast food restaurant and was even cheaper than many of the other store-bought varieties I saw in the freezer section.

What makes that even more of a good deal is the fact these sandwiches are very filling. When I go to a restaurant, I have to buy two to have a filling breakfast. I barely got through one of the Tennessee Pride sandwiches and it kept me satisfied for a few hours before I was hungry again.

I also love the fact these sandwiches are easy to make. They are individually wrapped and all you do is open an end of the wrapper, place it on a paper towel or napkin and microwave it for about a minute. It’s the perfect breakfast for someone in a hurry because you can eat it with one hand.

The taste is what really impressed me though. Usually, processed foods like this taste….well, processed. They are edible but you know they came from a box.

However, this brand wasn’t half bad. The sausage had some flavor to it but wasn’t too spicy. The biscuit fell apart in flakes as you ate it and the eggs weren’t rubbery (a major problem I’ve come across with frozen foods like this). In other words, I had fast food quality taste without the hassle of standing in line at the counter and for a much smaller price.

If you are looking for an affordable breakfast that is quick to make, filling and tastes great, I definitely recommend this product from Tennessee Pride.
