Location: 6009 Paseo Delicias, Rancho Sante Fe
This beautiful restaurant is located in Rancho Santa Fe, and is a top choice among French Cuisine connoisseurs. Here, menu items for dinner may include Fois Gras, Soup of Mustard Greens, Crispy Sautéed Veal Sweetbreads, Whole Dover Sole “Meunière” and “Wiener Schnitzel” Of Veal Loin. For dessert, the restaurant offers such things as Caramel, Banana and Coconut Feuilleté or a Passion Fruit Crème Brûlée which would be perfect for Valentine’s Day. If cheese is more your style at a French Restaurant, they offer many selections of cheese for dessert with fresh fruits.

1500 Ocean at the Hotel del Coronado

The Hotel del Coronado is rich in history, and while the restaurant is relatively new the ambiance is pure romance. This contemporary restaurant has gorgeous oceanfront seating and has a large wine library. The chef de cuisine Brian Sinnott works to bring the flavors of Santa Ynez to Cabo San Lucas to San Diego. Dinner items include Braised Veal Cheek for starters to the Korubuta Pork Tenderloin with Polenta and Fava Beans. Side dishes include deeply satisfying Golden Potato Mousseline and Ancho Glazed Baby Carrots. Dessert items range from a simple Apple Brown Betty with Panna Cotta to a luscious Bolivian Chocolate Dried Cherry Slump Cake.
For those who want the Chef to make the selection for them, choose the Chef’s Tasting Menu which includes a full multi-course meal including dessert. Choose with or without the Wine Sommelier’s selections.
Prices range from 14.00 for a starter to 49.00 for dinner with desserts running about 8 to 15 dollars. The Chef’s Selection menu runs 85.00 for a four course dinner without wine and 125.00 for dinner with wine selections. Dinner is served from Thursday to Sunday from 5:30 to 10:00pm.

Sante Ristorante brings the best of Northern Italian cuisine direct to San Diego. It is one of the few places that offer fresh seasonal truffles, hand picked by trifolao or a truffle hunter. For Valentine’s Day, try fresh Italian dishes likeCarciofi Fritti (fried artichokes), Pappardelle al Cinghiale (pasta with wild boar sauce) and Salsiccie e Peperoni (sausage and peppers). For sides try asparagus, spinach or potatoes. For dessert classics like Tiramisu and Cannoli can be found.

Thee Bungalow would make a Valentine’s Day dinner special as it is located in a cottage near Ocean Beach. Here one can find Manchego Cheese Croquettes with black truffle gastrique, Farm Raised Chicken “Fricassee”, Muscovy Duck Breast & Duck Leg Confit and Bouillabaisse Provencal. Sides include Truffled Pommes Frites and Salad de Haricot Verts. Desserts like Banana Crêpes Sucrées and Dessert Souffles made to order can be found here.
Prices range from 8.95 for appetizers to 30.95 for a dinner entrée. Desserts are all 7.50 except the soufflés which are 15.00. Dinner is served from 5:30 to 9:30 Monday through Thursday, 5:00 to 10:00 on Fridays and Saturdays and from 5:00 to 9:00 on Sunday.

If a visit to the Gas Lamp District on Valentine’s Day is on the list, try Candelas for dinner. They have a special Valentine’s Day Romance menu for 125.00 each person. Included on the menu is a choice between two appetizers and starters: Smoked Salmon Rolls filled with Lobster and Mixed Greens with Fois Gras and Duck Terrine, or choose the Crab Cream Soup with Albondigas and simmered with Lemon. There is a special choice of two entrees: Robalo Fillet Marinated in Cilantro and Served with Lentils and Sweet Potatoes or Beef Filet with Chile de Arbol and Oregano Marinated Cactus and Served with Plantains and Tequila-Truffle Sauce. Dessert is a chocolate cake with fresh raspberries, vanilla ice cream and Grand Marnier Sauce.
