Rum Drinks for New Years Eve Parties – Rum is a legendary drink that has more history than any other drink in time gone by. And it is still the most popular in the world today. Rum is a beverage of preabolition era and was the choice of drinks for European settlers in the Caribbean, it was also a means exporting back to Europe and the Americas.
Examples of some excellent rum choices includes:
Appleton Rum which is great for sipping or making cocktails, Bacardi which is excellent in mixed drinks, another fine rum is Mount Gray(spicy) excellent for sipping and Gosling Black Seal great in mix drink or sipping.

Pieces of lemon or lime frozen in ice cube makes great addition to drinks that calls for lemon or limes.
This drink is an original recipe that was created while I was in the Cayman Island it’s called Rum Benito it consists of 2oz rum, 1oz guava juice, 1oz pineapple juice, 1/2 lime juice with a dash of Angosture bitters.
Combine all ingredients in a shaker and well. Strain into cocktail glasses and garnish with lemon peel.
This is an original recipe of my husband who was a bartender for several years. He had created this drink for an customer that wanted a drink reminiscent of the Caribbean, and so he named the drink Madam. This drink is consist1oz rum, 1oz cranberry juice,1oz orange,1/2oz blue curaco,1/2oz lemon juice, Combine all ingredients in a shaker and shake vigorously. Strain into chill, in martini glasses and garnish with lime peel.
Mojito is the next drink, add 1oz white rum, 1oz fresh lime juice, 2tsp granulated sugar and 5 fresh mint leaves together and Place mint leaves in a mortar and crush until sugar is dissolved. Add lime juice and pour into a glass with ice. Garnish with mint sprigs and lime wedges. Secondly there is the Rum Slush which I originated in Jamaica at the reggae Sunsplash, it consist of 1oz mango juice 2oz orange juice, 2oz rum and a splash of bitters.
Add all ingredients to blender with crushed ice and mix well for aprox. 7 seconds. Pour into a glass and serve garnish with orange slices and a cherry.
Drinks made with specific rum tend to be popular at clubs and bars, but mainly they were originated in the tropics at resorts or on a cruise.
I came up with this recipe while vacationing in Jamaica a couple years ago it is called
Naked and consist of 1oz Appleton rum, 2oz pineapple juice, 2oz orange juice, 1/2oz grenadine and a dash of lime juice

Loco on the beach which is other favorite, combine 2oz Appleton Gold 2oz evaporated milk1oz coffee liqueur ,Pour ingredients in a rock glass with ice. Serve with a stir stick.
A favorite of the islands is Dark ‘n Stormy made with 11/2 Gosling Black Seal Rum, 4oz root beer
Top rum with root beer and garnish with lime. Serve in a high ball glass with ice. This drink would normally be served in the early evening when the sun would be cooler as this drink could put some heat in your body.
This drink is an original recipe from my favorite bar in Toronto call Sunshine Girl it consist of 1oz Bacardi Rum, 2oz cranberry juice, 2oz gingerale with a twist of lemon then combine in a shaker and shake well. Serve in a glass over ice. This drink is cool and refreshing and definitely make you feel like being in the sunshine.
