Rush Limbaugh was interviewed on Fox News’ new program Hannity. Sean Hannity is still the same partisan, but I confess I like his show better without Alan Colmes, and NOT because I didn’t like Colmes. In fact Colmes had at least one trait I highly admire – a damned quick & biting wit. I like the new program better because Hannity is at least not spending half the program recounting every Liberal ill since FDR. That got old. But back to my point.
In the 2 part interview Rush said he does not want the Obama presidency to succeed. On the face of it this seems an un-American statement. But it isn’t when you know the context. And no, I am not rushing to defend Limbaugh. As I have said before, the guy makes $40 million a year so he sure don’t need my lame ass defending anything he does, but I must set the record straight for the casually interested and the political opposition.
Rush’s statement was a two-fold utterance and I can assure you as a 20 year fan of Limbaugh, a great deal of his presentation is fully intended to be “over the top,” as it were. He loves tossing out something that will be picked up in media and discussed. It gives him even more fodder for future shows. Limbaugh, besides being one of the great Conservative minds of our time, is a showman extraordinaire. His manner of self-promotion is to be outrageous and let the media fight it out as to why he said something and what he meant by it. A pretty clever tactic, no?
So what did Limbaugh mean? Simple really – he does not want to see Obama be successful, but not because he’s Black; not because he’s the Messiah; not because he is too young or inexperienced. No, Limbaugh wants Obama to fail because Limbaugh is a Conservative and he wants Obama’s Liberal ideals to fall flat on their face in order to see a return of Conservatism as the primary political force of our nation. It’s really a simple and straight forward concept. He even specifically clarified that by stating he wishes Obama success in life and good health and fortune, but not political success.
If the Obama Presidency is one Liberal initiative after another that flops Rush is convinced we will see San Fran Nan and her “most moral Congress ever” tossed out on their collective Liberal butts, closely followed by a Messianic rear end in 2012. Simple, huh?
I know the uber left nutballs will be incensed with Limbaugh’s words and concepts and that’s the second part of his two-fold purpose in his utterance. He wants to drive the nutballs to distraction. He is tweaking their nipples in a big, big way – the infamous “titty-twister.” Pluck their last good nerve and all that. God, I love this man. He looks ’em in the eye, tells ’em he’s gonna do this just to rile them up, does it and then sits back and laughs as the asses try their mightiest to counter his moves. Rush is a brilliant showman.
So, are Rush’s statements un-American? No, but he clearly couched his point in the most controversial way possible. Of course in fairness he was answering the question Hannity posed: “Do you want to see Obama succeed as President?” But as I said, Rush does love to stir the pot and sit back and watch the cauldron bubble over.
And in fact, despite my best wishes for president Obama, I too hope his ideology fails. Not because I am an anarchist. Not because I am a mean and hateful Conservative. Not because he’s a Brother. I want his policies to fall flat because I do not believe in them. i want him to be a political failure in his desire to implement Socialism upon this, the only non-Socialist nation remaining on this rock.
Why can’t you socialist wishing peeps go live in those countries? And I am not being “It’s my country so you get out,” at all. I am saying the US is unique. If you want socialism in a western nation go to Canada. The whole rest of the world is what you want us to become. If you think socialism is the be all and end all, go live in a western socialist nation. They are to be found all over the globe. Just commence to walking north or south and BOOM!, socialism will be found. Hop a plane and go east or west and BOOM!, socialism will be found.
Can we please be left in peace on this little corner of this marble? Please? That’s all I’m asking, and that’s all Rush was saying too!
And like I said, I did not undertake this effort to defend Limbaugh. I did undertake this effort to explain to the distracted and to the haters on the other side who would actually believe Limbaugh or any sane person would wish our new President ill. Limbaugh just does not want to see Obama be a political success. Nor do I.
And don’t none of you uber smarty pants Libs pipe in with “How can you claim to support Obama and then say you don’t want his policies to succeed?” Gee golly ya big brained Bastards, I seem to recall y’all announcing to the world, ad nauseam, “We support the troops; we don’t support the war.” So if you can support and not support in the same statement, wouldn’t fair play allow me the same? Or will you once again expose yourselves to the hypocrites I always claim you are? Don’t ya just love a conundrum? I know I do!
There is enough socialism in this world already, so leave us be.
