Over the past few months the media has been overloaded with images of Barack Obama and his family, John Mccain and of course, who could forget vice presidental nominee, Sarah Palin of the great state of Alaska? As surprised as many Americans were to see Senator Mccain’s pick for vice president, her ongoing appearances on the campaign trail were excellent for late night comedy shows and the left-wing cynics. When I first saw Sarah Palin I immediatley thought, “Pioneer Woman”, she appears to be very nice looking, a fairly attractive woman, however her style is over-zeolous and simply out of touch with this day and age. Now I am not saying that her style is the worst in the world, it is just typical of a conservative, religious woman to overdo her hairstyle in an outdated fashion. Let’s face it, the poofed up sweep of hair on the top of her head is really quite tacky and looks like an old bee-hive from the 1950s.
I really question with how much money that was reportedly spent on Palin’s wardrode for the campaign why she could not have had a better, more subtle hairstyle. The hairstyle would maybe be cute on Mary-Tyler Moore 40 years ago but her failed attempt to copy the bee-hive only made her and her political party seem out of touch with this day and age and where we are in the world today. Instead of a fresh face to the Republican Party, we once again see another canidate stuck in the 50s with a hair do to prove it. I mean Cindy Mccain is older than Sarah Palin but yet even her hair-do was more contemporary and up to date. Some have said her school girl/innocent secretary look was appealing, others have said she appears to be a porn star in disguise. I simply think that Sarah Palin, as many jokes she has already taken on, next time she is in the spotlight she not only needs to make-over the Republican Party but her hairstyle as well. Here is a lady, from out of Alaska, in which many Americans have never even heard of, wanted to be next in line to the most powerful position in the world, considered to be educated on alternative energy and domestic oil issues on a CURRENT level and she appears to have stepped out of the beauty pagent of 1952? Give me a break, if Sarah Palin thinks she is going to be the next face of political fashion, it would be suggested she take some tips from Cindy, Jackie or Carolynn Bessette.
Nevertheless, Mrs. Palin still appears to have an overall nice attire of neat, tidy clothes, why not work with a hair stylist that could bring her whole head into the 21st century? An overdone, oversprayed bee-hive only makes her look like the hungry for honey/money wasp that she probably is. Anybody who has to go for the innocent look to that degree usually has something to hide beneath the veneers. For 2012, maybe if we see of Sarah Palin again, perhaps she could invest in some pantene pro-v clarifying shampoo and a straightner for that gooey mess of a hair-do.
