Like most single people, I feel as though Valentine’s Day is another excuse for the greeting card companies to make money off the love-struck. Let’s be honest. It’s not just the greeting card companies that make loot off this holiday. Think about it. The closer it gets to February 14th, the more diamond commercials you see and the more heart-shaped boxed candies fill the aisles at the grocery store. If you subscribe to lingerie catalogs, I am sure you will see several heart-themed teddies to entice your man. Well, If you are single or against spending a ton of money on someone else as a sad attempt to show them that you care, here are a few fun activities you can do.
Take a trip to the spa.
Instead of showing someone else that you care, show your body that you love it. Indulge yourself with one of those fancy packages. Try a body scrub, followed by a Swedish massage, and a facial. If you are really in the mood to splurge, try a relaxing weekend at a destination spa, like Ten Thousand Waves Japanese Health Spa in Sante Fe, New Mexico or Golden Door in Escondido, California. Your body will love you!
Spend the night in.
I’m not talking about any ol’ night in. I’m talking about the PERFECT night in. Do your research. Find the perfect recipe, and cook yourself something divine. If cooking is not your thing, order out from your favorite restaurant. Pick out your most comfortable PJ’s and a movie you’ve been dying to see. Curl up, and enjoy.
Get out and Mingle
If you are against Valentine’s Day, chances are you’re not the only one. Get dolled up in your hottest outfit and hit the club scene. You never know, who you might meet. Here is a challenge for your evening. Most people have a “type” that they usually go for. Think about your ex, and go for someone who is their complete opposite. After all, opposites do attract.
Do you have a vendetta against your ex. Maybe your ex cheated on you. Then this will be perfect for you. Dating your ex, I’m sure you had to spend some nights with his friends, and there is always that one friend that you noticed a little more than the rest. It’s always fun to hunt. Try asking them out – something casual. If you hit it off, maybe it could lead to more.
I know there are a few of you who get a little lonely on this day. Try bringing all of your friends together for a fun night. Reminisce of years past. You’re supposed to spend Valentine’s day with the one you love, but I won’t hold it against you if you have more than one.
