Our family recently tried the Shrimp and Broccoli Alfredo meal kit from Schwan’s. We do not usually purchase frozen meal kits because they tend to taste to processed and we really enjoy cooking at our house so flavor is very important. However, this meal kit looked like it would be really tasty so we just had to give it a try.
What does the Schwan’s Shrimp and Broccoli Alfredo Taste Like? The flavor of the meal was absolutely delicious. There was an abundance of alfredo sauce and the shrimp was cooked to perfection. These must be the 41-50 shrimps because they are not really big but not really small either. They are about the perfect size for the dish and they were very flavorful. I am not a big fan of “fishy” tasting seafood and this dish was not “fishy” at all.
The bowtie pasta cooked very nicely and tasted fresh. It was not overcooked like you sometimes get with those cheap frozen meals. The pasta did not stick together or fall apart it held its texture wonderfully. The broccoli was crisp but not undercooked. I personally do not care for cooked broccoli that has been overcooked and turns mushy. This broccoli was not mushy at all.
How do you cook the Schwan’s Shrimp and Broccoli Alfredo Meal? don’t usually rate a meal on convenience, but these days people are so busy that the meal almost has to be rated on convenience. Many people just don’t have the time to prepare a full meal after work and this meal is absolutely perfect for those late nights. It cannot get much more convenient than this one skillet meal.
You take the meal out of the freezer and it is in its own bag. Cut the bag open and pour the entire contents of the package into a skillet or pot. You cook the entire contents for about 11 minutes on medium heat with a lid on the pot. Every few minutes you stir the meal and at the end of 11 minutes it is completely ready to serve. I still just can’t believe how easy it is to make.
What does the Schwan’s Shrimp and Broccoli Alfredo Meal Cost? Although the meal is a little pricy it is well worth the money. It costs about $12 for a two pound bag which should feed two adults and two children. Realistically, this isn’t a very bad price for feeding four people, that’s about $3 per person for dinner. You can’t go out to dinner for that cheap and there is no way you could make this meal yourself for less than $12. The shrimp alone would cost at least $7 leaving very little left for the pasta, sauce, and broccoli. Besides that, the convenience makes the price even more worth it.
Nutrition Information: The Schwan’s Shrimp and Broccoli Alfredo Meal kit has only 260 calories per serving. Unfortunately, the fat content is 13 grams per serving due to the cheese sauce. On the advantageous side, the meal is full of Vitamins A and C as well as calcium and iron. Overall, this meal is pretty good for you.
Overall Rating: Overall, I would definitely recommend this frozen Schwan’s meal kit to anyone who likes pasta and likes seafood. The Shrimp and Broccoli Alfredo meal kit is Schwan’s item number 688. So far it is one of the best meal kits that I have had the privilege of eating. It makes a perfect meal on busy nights when you may otherwise not have time to cook a full meal for the family. Not only is it easy to make, the family will love it too! My husband continues to ask me about it weeks later, he wants to know when we will be having the Shrimp and Broccoli Alfredo meal again. My family gives this meal 5 stars!
