Spring 2009 Fashion Trends: Office Wear for Men

The spring 2009 fashions are out and for men, they are great. Men’s fashion trends this year seem to be going fairly casual. However, for the office sometimes casual is not appropriate. So, how do men stay in fashion and still look professional? For the answers take a look at the fashion trends for 2009 when it comes to office wear.

What you can get away with in men’s fashion trends for spring will depend on where you work, so let’s examine some options starting with the most laid back looks through to the most conservative. First, sandals and suits are hot this year. If you don’t have a pair of dressy sandals, try Yves Saint Laurent, Prada, Gucci or Armani which can all be found at Saks Fifth Avenue.

Not everyone can get away with sandals with a suit for office wear, though, so for a little more formal style but still keeping with the casual fashion trends of spring 2009 look to suits without ties. Bold stripes and lighter colors are in style for spring. Instead of pairing a casual suit with a tie, try a corresponding scarf draped around the neck instead. Burberry makes some lovely men’s scarves and can be found for reasonable prices online at Price Grabber.

Drawstring pants are one of the fashion trends for office wear also. This can be worn with casual shirts or with a long sleeved shirt and tie to dress it up just a bit. The combination of casual pants with a more formal shirt and tie are perfect for the trendy man. Nordstrom’s has some selections of drawstring pants.

If you need to wear a shirt and tie for office wear, spring fashion trends will still work for you. Try lighter colored suits. White, grey, pastel blue and stripes are all in style this season. For ties, narrow ties are the fashion trends for this season. Ralph Lauren has several styles of narrow ties that will work for office wear while still maintaining a professional demeanor.

For conservative looks, tailored suits in classic colors such as charcoal and khaki are perfect. Stick to monochromatic looks with varying shades of the same suit color in your shirt and tie. This is one of the fashion trends that are perfect for office wear in a more formal situation. Continue to wear a narrower tie and dress shoes. Some great men’s classic suits can be found at Bergdorg Goodman.

Men’s fashion trends for office wear are definitely running toward the casual. This is ideal for casual office environments or casual Fridays. However, for offices that require more conservative, traditional attire, you can still work within the fashion trends for spring 2009. Wear lighter colored tailored suits, narrower ties and monochromatic colors.
