Last week my older daughter and I were quite ill with a virus that left me with no desire or energy to cook or clean for several days. My husband made a trip to the grocery store one afternoon to pick up dinner and brought home Stouffer’s Chicken Parmigiana in the family size package. Here is what I discovered about this Stouffer’s frozen entree.
Stouffer’s Chicken Parmigiana in the family size contains slightly over three pounds of chicken and pasta. This was the perfect size for my family of four as each family member received one chicken breast and a generous serving of spaghetti on the side. The family size version of Stouffers Chicken Parmigiana costs nine dollars and change which is certainly a good price for a filling family dinner.
Preparation of this meal was quite easy. After preheating the oven to three hundred and fifty degrees, the tray of chicken parm gets placed on a cookie sheet and placed in the oven for approximately seventy minutes. After the required cooking time, the tray is removed from the oven and allowed to sit for five minutes before removing the film cover and digging in. This product can also be cooked in the microwave, although it is not the recommended method. The microwave method of cooking Stouffer’s Chicken Parmigiana cuts the cooking time from seventy to thirty minutes and may be suitable for evenings where time is extremely short and a hot dinner needs to be placed on the table in a hurry.
One serving of Stouffer’s Chicken Parmigiana contains four hundred and sixty calories. There is eighteen grams of Fat, thirty five milligrams of cholesterol, fifty six grams of Total Carbohydrate, four grams of Dietary Fiber and nine grams of Protein in each serving. There is also ten percent of the daily recommended value of Vitamin A, fifteen percent of Vitamin C, fifteen percent of Calcium and four percent of Iron.
Overall I would rate Stouffer’s Chicken Parmigiana frozen entree three out of five stars. The portions were large and definitely filling. The chicken breasts were tender, but a bit bland tasting. There was a nice amount of mozzarella cheese on each piece of chicken which definitely added to the meal. The pasta sauce had a very sweet taste which my children just loved. There was an ample amount of spaghetti to go around which made a nice side dish to the chicken parm. The ease in preparation, affordable price and large portions make Stouffer’s Chicken Parmigiana frozen entree makes a good meal in a pinch, but it definitely left me with a desire for the homemade version.
