Computers with emails and Blackberries with Text messaging is the new way that teenagers communicate with their friends and there are many slang terms that they use. Many parents do not know what all or some of those words even mean nor do parents know what their teenager is even talking about. I did not know a lot of them so I sat down with my niece who just turned 14 and she told me what the meaning of some of the words stand for. Here is a list of many of the slang words and their meanings that teens use when sending a text message.
Chav: derogatory term for a teenager who works
Nutter: a person that is crazy
The Bomb: the ultimate favorite of anything
Off The Chain: The bomb
Sick: extremely cool
Ridonkulous: beyond being ridiculous
Fo’ shizzle: certainly
Crunk: hip-hop genre
Emo: soft core punk genre and the teen fans of this.
Mash Up: Taking elements from different types of music and mix them together with a new song which results in an all-new song.
Talk smack: belittle someone
Rock: manifests greatness
Jump the shark: to peak and then go down again
Floss: show how much money you have
Friend: people you communicate with on a social networking website
Check vitals: to keep an eye on your emails, cell phone, voice mail and any other electronic device you have.
Brodown: boy’s night out
Peeps: closest friends or family
Noob: one who is new to online gaming
Frenemy: someone who is a friend but also sometimes hurts your feelings
Bromance: two men that are close friends but do not have sex with one another
Webisode: a short video that is viewed only on-line
Wikidemia: a term paper, which was researched only on Wikipedia.org
Vlog: web log of video entries
Google: using a search engine on the Internet called Google
Crackberry: A nickname for the Blackberry, which is a phone and an addictive digital email gadget.
BFF: bestfriends forever
IDK: I don’t know
LOL: laughing out loud
OMG: Oh my God!
ROFL: rolling on the floor laughing
TMI: too much information
Bling: sparkly and gaudy jewelry
Tattooed out: covered with tattoos
Scooby Doos: good shoes
Soul patch: a tiny patch of a beard under a guy’s lower lip and the rest of his face has been shaved
Tramp Stamp: tattoo on the lower back of a woman which is specifically placed there to be seen when wearing low riding jeans or super short shorts
Boo: a boyfriend or girlfriend
Cougar: an older woman who dates younger men
Baby Mama: mother of one’s children who is usually not a spouse
Flirtationship: long time flirting with someone and never having any physical contact with that person
Cupcaking: displaying affection out in public
Badonkadonk: someone that has a nice butt
