1. First Week: USA gives Pakistan more than $5 billion for “War On Terror.”
2. Second Week: Pakistan sends “terrorists” to India.
3. Third Week: USA rushes intelligence officials and Condy Rice to “help” Indians.
So now the question is what actually is this “War On Terror”? Is this a ploy to cover up something else?
For that answer we will have to go back to history.
British were the colonial masters in that vast colony that then comprised Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Bangladesh and Myanmar. Even Protectorate of Aden in Yemen was being ruled from Delhi.
As colonial masters the British even controlled the “opium trade”. It was when they lost the opium wars with China that they started focusing on the hilly frontier areas of what is now the vast, inhospitable “no man’s land” at the border between Afghanistan and Pakistan. The tribal chieftains there were running their own “drug” empires. To the last days of the British Empire, Britain never could win over the tribals and control the drug trade.
Maximum they could do was divide their big colony so that the opium producing areas would be separated from India. They could not trust the ascetic Gandhi to encourage “opium culture.”
But the British plan backfired when they belatedly found that Mohammed Ali Jinnah too was aiming for a Republic like the Hindus in India. Their original plan was to keep India and Pakistan under British Governor Generals like they did in Canada and Australia.
Now, the empire gone, Britain lost control of the “opium trade”.
And we Americans inherited almost all the illegimate offsprings of British colonialism as the Western superpower in the aftermath of the World Wars.
Now to the present:
Last week Afghanistan’s President Karzai alleged that NATO is not interested in catching or destroying Osama Bin Laden!
That is understandable. Throughout history whoever tried to control the opium growing areas of Afghanistan and Pakistan had been converted to protectors of opium fields.
Now the question: “Are we also turning into protectors of opium fields?”
For that answer we have to look into some annual Congressional dealings. Especially the session where they take up embargoing drug dealing nations. I have been watching this drama on ESPN for some years now:
First they raise hands to pass embargoes on drug dealing countries. Then they raise hands to give special exemption to Pakistan as an ally!
All this when scores of young Americans are being exposed to drugs and when millions of dollars are being spent to rescue or protect them, and secure our borders from drugs!
President Barak Obama may have to play the part of a real LIQUIDATOR and bulldoze through millions of historic documents in both States Department and Pentagon to find out the real motive behind sending billions to Pakistan under the guise of “War On Terror.”
Skeptical? Then remember just “1” ounce of the thing can make you a millionaire. A few more ounces of the poison can make you a billionaire even though you can’t expose yourself in Forbe’s List of the World’s Wealthiest for your own safety.
Amusingly, Russians too tried to share the “Opium Pie” in Afghanistan. But tribals drove them out with OUR help.
Then, when SOME OF US tried to supplant ourselves in the place of the Russians, the tribals wanted to drive them out so that they can have the “Opium Pie” all to themselves. Thus was born Al Qaida.
Now to the last question:
Which Americans are actually making money from this “War FOR drugs” at the expense of their taxpayers? Only an impartial audit by the Federal Auditors will answer that.
Now you realize why our victories in Wars on both Terror and Drugs will remain distant dreams. The billions of dollars of American taxpayers’ money is going somewhere else into the wrong hands.
Back to some history.
Alexander the Great was wise enough to realize something in his defeat of Porus:
Though his superior strategics won him the war, he knew that he might not be able to maintain logistic and administrative support from far away Macedonia through the treacherous mountain passes of Afghan frontier (where he faced stiff opposition both on his way in and out.)
So he hastily withdrew after appointing the defeated Porus as his local governor of the annexed territory.
