The dancing lizards from last year’s popular SoBe Lifewater commercial are making a return appearance to the Super Bowl this year. Instead of the beautiful Naomi Campbell, however, the lizards are teaming up with some monsters, aliens, and famous NFL stars.
In a commercial break that’s being called a “3D Monstrous Event”, DreamWorks Animation SKG, NBC and the Intel Corporation are teaming up for an eye-popping premiere of the “Monsters vs. Aliens” trailer. The movie is scheduled for release in theaters on March 27, 2009.
A Young Bride Becomes a 50-foot Giantess
In this, DreamWorks first “InTru 3D” release, a young woman named Susan Murphy is exposed to an unusual meteor on her wedding day. The space debris causes her to grow to the unusual height of 49-feet, 11-inches. Government agents then whisk the bride-to-be off to a hidden compound for research and study.
Susan Joins the “Monsters”
Because of her unusual size, the government gives Susan the codename “Ginormica” and places her in a secure location with other beings who also have unusual abilities:
· Dr. Cockroach, Ph.D – a brilliant scientist with an insect head.
· The Missing Link (half-ape, half-fish)
· The indestructible B.O.B.
· A 350-foot grub called Insectosaurus.
Susan and the “Monsters” Battle an Alien Robot
After an alien robot lands on Earth, the President of the United States enlists Susan and her monstrous friends to stop the metallic creature’s rampage. Susan and her teammates have to work together to save a country that rejected them.
“Monsters vs. Aliens” features the voice talents of Reese Witherspoon, Hugh Laurie, Will Arnett, Seth Rogen, Rainn Wilson, Stephen Colbert, Kiefer Sutherland and Paul Rudd. This film is DreamWorks Animation’s first “InTru 3D” movie, which uses technology created by Intel; the film also will be shown in 2D.
The SoBe Lizards Dance with the “Monsters”
Following the 3D movie trailer, the SoBe Lifewater lizards will make their second consecutive Superbowl appearance, this time dancing with characters from the “Monsters vs. Aliens” movie as well as some well-known NFL stars. The entire 3D event is scheduled for broadcast at the end of the Super Bowl’s second quarter on Sunday, February 1, 2009.
To experience the full 3D effect, make sure to pick up plenty of free 3D glasses at grocery and drug stores and other retail outlets.
Recycling Your 3D Glasses with Chuck Bartowski
In an effort to get more than one use out of the special glasses, NBC will broadcast a special 3D episode of “Chuck” on Monday, February 2, 2009 at 8 p.m. ET. A popular Monday night comedy/adventure series, the show focuses on Chuck Bartowski, a retail clerk who becomes a reluctant superspy. Make sure not to “Chuck” your glasses at the end of Super Bowl XLIII.
