How often have you found yourself saying, “There isn’t enough time in the day” concerning everything that you need to get accomplished. As a work at home mom, and single parent I am constantly trying to find a way to shuffle all of my responsibilities. I enjoy working from home, but have truly found it harder to protect and separate work time from housework time and parenting. I decided if I was going to truly make this work for me and my family, that I would have to get better equipped in managing my time. In my research I have found these time saving, and time managing tips that I hope will help you also.
#1 Time Managing Tip
Create a to do list. Write out a list of what needs to be accomplished for each day. It is best to complete this list at least the day before. List your task into order by most important to least, and don’t allow yourself to skip around on the list. Check off each task when it is complete, at the end of the day review your accomplishments and plan for the next day. At getmoredone.com they go into precise detail on how to create your to do list and plan your day.
#2 Time Managing Tip
Delegate, Delegate, Delegate. To be successful you will need to delegate whatever tasks in your day that can easily be accomplished by someone else. Whether you are in the corporate arena or a stay at home. Delegate to your coworkers, your spouse and your children. Everyone can play apart of the team in accomplishing tasks.
#3 Time Managing Tip
Learn how to say No. To often we overextend ourselves. We cannot be everything well to everybody. Do what you can and leave other tasks for those in a better position to handle them. Do not allow yourself to get “talked into things” According to the Mayo Clinic this is a valuable tip to help reduce stress in our lives and increase our productivity. Just say No.
#4 Time Managing Tip
Limit distractions. You must put priority on your time. It is okay to not answer every phone call or return every email instantly. Block out periods of time in your schedule for these tasks. If necessary leave a voice message or auto email response on your intended time to be available to return calls or answer questions.
#5 Time Managing Tip
Don’t overlook the benefits of a healthy diet, exercise, and a good nights sleep on your level of productivity. You must take time to take care of yourself, so that you can apply yourself to your work.
#6 Time Manging Tip
Take multiple short breaks. You can simply walk outside for some fresh air. Listen to a relaxing or uplifting piece of music, or make a pleasurable phone call. You need to simply take some time to replenish and refresh your self for the next tasks at hand.
