Attempting to balance the work world, and being pregnant can be a huge challenge. There are several ways that you can balance the two without burning yourself out. To start with, you will need to get yourself organized. Even the most unorganized person can find themselves managing better by just performing a few simple tasks.
The first thing that you will need is a calendar. If you have a cell phone with a built in calendar it may be a good idea to use this feature. You can usually set your cell phone to alert you when you have some type of task that needs to be completed. If you don’t have this feature a regular pocket calendar which can be purchased from just about any store will come in handy. Once you have your calendar you will fist need to write down any upcoming doctors appointments that you may have. Since you are expecting you will need to figure out how to work your work schedule and the rest of your day around the appointments. Never miss your doctor’s appointment. If you take the time to make these items a priority you will be able to manage better. Next on the list is to schedule and plan out your mornings. Once you start the third trimester of pregnancy you will begin to notice how difficult it is to manage getting up in the morning. You will feel a lot more tired and your energy will be practically drained. In order to be able to still not be completely burned out you will need some type of early morning routine. If you need to be at work by 9:00 a.m., you will need to give yourself at least two hours of prep time. For some it may be two and a half hours. Take a look at how much time you need to spend on getting dressed and eating a healthy breakfast. Many expectant moms who work don’t really take the time to eat properly simply because they don’t have the time in the morning. By scheduling this time and setting your alarm you will be able to better manage.
Make a list of items that need to be done each morning. Put everything on the list including packing your lunch and whatever other morning items that need to be taken care of in the morning. You can then place this list on your refrigerator. This way you can check your list first thing in the morning. You will also need to schedule time for yourself in the evening. You will want time to prepare your clothing for the next work day, and time to relax. By taking the time to iron and lay out your clothing for the day you will be giving yourself a head start for the next day.
Once you have everything scheduled, do your best to stick to it. You will find that it will help to ensure that you are not completely exhausted.
