So you’re going to take the plunge and try out one of those great movie-by-mail services, huh? Well, congratulations! Take a few pointers from me, whom I consider to be an expert in the field of Netflix and Blockbuster!
Tips to keep in mind:
You will need a credit card to sign up for the service. Blockbuster offers payment with PayPal as well, but you will need something in order to sign up.
With Netflix, please make sure you are inserting the DVD back into the envelope properly, or else your next order will be processed slower. The barcode must be seen through the little slot in the envelope.
Take the time out to really browse the selection of movies, because there really are so many to choose from! These services offer great reviews and all the information you need on the film, including ratings and viewer’s reviews. There are even previews of the movie you can view which really can aid you in your selection. And the large selection of titles is even greater than that in the stores and rental shops, so go through the process of recommendations because you may just find a real treasure that you never even knew about!
If a movie ever gets lost in the mail, just report it via online to the company, and they will not hold you responsible. And also, if you find any problems with your DVD, report this as well. There’s an easy way to do it right in your queue where you can click on “report a problem”.
Keep your queue full at all times so that you do not interrupt your service! And make sure your favorites are always on top!
The best package:
It all depends on how many movies you watch and how soon you think you can get them back in the mail. If you are good about plopping things in the mail, then go ahead and try the 3 or 4 at a time plans and that way you will have a steady rotation of movies. Even the one-at-a-time plans are good, if you only want to see a movie a couple times a week. That means you are seeing about 8 new movies a month for one low price. I would say it’s a good idea!
Try the free trial first:
Blockbuster and Netflix both offer free trials, two weeks in length. Just please make sure to cancel the free trial before it even ends if you are not interested in continuing with the service. If you do not, your credit card will be charged!
Netflix offers online views. Not only that, but they are unlimited and completely unconnected with your regular amount of movies you get in the mail. Blockbuster, on the other hand, does not offer this wonderful service but they do on the other hand offer in-store movies – plans offering a selected amount you can check out at any given time.
The two companies have the same quality of service; movies seem to arrive and be processed once sent back in the same amount of time. It’s really just up to you to return the movies immediately after watching them, otherwise there’s really no point in signing up for this service!
