Tips on Buying New Tires for Your Car

Finding new tires can seem incredibly difficult, especially if it’s not something that you’ve done in the past. However, we all need new tires from time to time. Here you will learn more about some of the factors that should be taken into consideration when purchasing new tires for your car.

When to Buy New Tires

In order to determine when it’s time to buy new tires, it is important to make sure that you check them frequently. About once to twice a month is a good time. Some of the different things to look for include punctures larger than ΒΌ inch and damage on the part of the tire which comes in direct contact with the road. If the damaged tire has been driven on while it was flat, and if you hit any bumps areas on the road, then it may also be time to buy new tires. Also keep in mind that it may be a good idea to purchase new tires before the winter season, as this is when the highest number of accidents occur.

What to Look For in Tires

Size: Before you even begin to look for brand new tires for your vehicle, it’s important to find out what size you need. To find out the size of the tires required, be sure to check the vehicle owner’s manual, inside the fuel hatch, or the glove compartment door.

Traction: This is one of the most important factors that should be considered when purchasing tires. Traction is what helps your car stop itself on pavement that is wet or slick. The letter scale for tires goes from AA, which is the best, to C, which is the worst. Note: A and B are the only other two letters on the scale.

Temperature: One of the main things that can destroy tires is hot temperatures. In order to prevent this, it is important to choose tires that can withstand hot weather. The letter scale for heat resistance ranks C at the lowest, and A at the highest.

Choosing Tires Based on Climate

Depending on the type of climate that you live in, certain types of tires may be more or less suited for your vehicle. Those who live in areas where there are bad road conditions during the winter will want to consider snow tires. All season tires are a great choice for most people because they are suitable for winter conditions, wet roads, and dry surfaces.

Tires to Consider Purchasing

There are a number of different top-rated tires out there, which may be suitable for your vehicle. Here are a few of the different ones to take into consideration.

Goodyear Assurance TripleTred tires are ranked as the best all season tires. These tires are known to offer a lot of traction for wet, dry, and snowy conditions. With an 80,000 mile warranty, these tires are priced moderately for the high quality that they have to offer. You can find these tires for about $105.

Hankook Mileage Plus II H725 all seasons tires are also ranked fairly high, considering their price. For $70, you can purchase tires that will provide you with a very smooth ride and pretty good traction, for the most part. Be cautious, however, because these tires are not known to be the best on ice. They are also difficult to find and can be noisy. Considering how affordable they are, however, they are well worth it.

Finally, be sure to consider Michelin Energy MXV4 Plus tires. One of the main benefits of these tires is the fact that they can improve your gas mileage and will allow for stability at fairly high speeds. That said, the traction on these tires may not be the best, making them a more ideal choice for people who do not frequently deal with wintry road conditions. They also are expensive – but may be worth the higher price since you will be getting better gas mileage.

Purchasing new tires can seem very frightening for some at first, but it really doesn’t need to be! With the right amount of effort put into shopping for them, you will be able to find tires that will be ideal for your vehicle.
