Jose was amazing last season with his superb all-round performance. He led all shortstops in stolen bases, triples and hits and stood second in runs and third in OPS. Missing only 15 games over the last four seasons, this young talent is expected to make more steals and home runs, which are what we expect from a shortstop.

Though Jimmy was struggling with injuries, he stole 47 bases which were career-high. Last season Jimmy posted an OBP of .349 in 137 games. He is expected to bounce back with great numbers in this season.

In Major-League history, Stephen Drew became the third shortstop to finish with 10 triples, 20 home runs, 40 doubles. He is expected to do even better in this season. With tremendous and tons of Upside he is expected to be one of the best power hitting shortstop of 2009.
#5 Shortstop – Fantasy Baseball 2009 :Jhonny Peralta– Cleveland Indians
The shortstop who led the majors in RBIs last season is Jhonny Peralta who stood second in doubles, third in runs scored and also led in strikeouts. Though his strikeout rate was lowered in 2008, he is expected to increase his strikeout rate and produce more numbersin this season.
#6 Shortstop – Fantasy Baseball 2009 :Derek Jeter– New York Yankees
The Yankees captain Derek Jeter is consistent and is still good at pulling the ball. His batting average, stolen bases, on-base percentage, home runs and slugging percentage were declined for second straight season in 2008. He is the classiest player with Hall Of Fame career and is expected be more consistent and find ways to get on base.

Troy Tulowitzki proved streaky early in his career. He won Rookie of the Year honors in 2007. Zapped by injuries, he played only 101 games in 2008. though he missed first half of the last season, he bounced back with 8 HR and has hit .327 in the second half. In 2008 Furcal has hit .367 in April and suffered with lower back injury in early May and after that he only played 4 games batting .258. If he remains healthy, I expect that Furcal has got the potential to steal more bases.
