Whether you’re new to online publishing, or new to publishing at Associated Content, you will find the general article publishing process easy after you try it.
Write the article in a word processing program first. Include the headline in your document. Spellcheck and proofread the document. Log in to Associated content and go to Publish.
General article and text are the default. Click on Select.
Step 1 – Select Rights and Payment
Previously Published – The first question you will need to answer is, “Have you previously published this content elsewhere?” Previously published includes any article you published before, even if was just on a blog. If the article was published before, it’s not eligible for upfront payment. The rest of the fields will be automatically selected for you and you can move on to Step 2.
Rights – If you have not published the article before, select no. If you want to be able to edit or remove the article later, choose Display-Only. You can still earn money from the article, but it will not receive an upfront payment offer. If you would like the piece to be considered for an upfront payment, select either Exclusive or Non-Exclusive.
Distribution – Decide if you would like your content to be available to other publishers, through Associated Content.
Payment – Any original piece of writing can earn you an upfront payment, if it meets AC submission guidelines. Select Upfront Payment Review PLUS Automatic Performance Payments. Once the article is submitted the AC Content Managers will evaluate the article and make you an offer for the article, which you can accept or decline.
You could also select Automatic Performance Payments ONLY if you want to publish your article right away. Note: you will need to have three articles reviewed before you can use the Display only and Automatic Performance Payments Only option.

Step 2 – Enter Title & Content
Copy and paste the headline. The headline should describe the article and give the reader a clear idea of what to expect when they read the article. Keep it short and use an action verb when possible. The headline should also include the main topic of your article, or “keyword phrase.” For example, the keyword phrase in the headline of this article is “General Article Publishing Process.”
If you have a clever idea for the headline use that in the Subtitle instead.
Descriptive Overview – Do not paste the first paragraph of your article into this box, although it may be tempting. Write a quick description of the article which will make someone want to read the entire article. *Required
Text Body – Copy and paste the article that you wrote into this box. When the Text Editor is on you can make some headings bold and other words italic, or to add links to the article. If you are familiar with HTML you can turn the Text Editor off.
Click Save and Next.
Step 3 – Add Extra Information
Categories – Pick one to three topics for the article, in the “Which category or categories best define your content?” box. Windows users can hold the Control key to select more than one category. For Mac users, hold the Command key. *Required
Search Tags – Type in words or phrases which are related to your topic. For example, for this article I typed in these search tags: headline writing, online publishing and keyword phrases. These phrases will help connect your article to related articles already published on AC, and vice versa. The search tags result in a list of Related articles. *Required
Content Highlights and Engaging Fact – These are optional. Include tidbits from the article to draw the reader in.
Supporting Links – Add the website addresses of your other related articles, websites or blogs.
Click Save and Next.
