In Orlando Florida there are many amusement parks that you can go and spend your time at. In fact many resort areas have more then one theme park that you can go to. One amusement complex that offers more then one theme park to go to is Universals. At the Universals Orlando complex you can spend your time at either the original Universals Studio theme park or you can go to the newer Universals Island of Adventure theme park. Which theme park is the best, how are they different, and which one will your family enjoy the most these are the questions that we are about to help you answer.
The first theme park of the Universals Orlando Florida Complex is Universals Studios. The idea behind Universals Studios is that you are in an actual working movie studio. While this is true there is not a lot of filming that goes on in the park anymore and while you were able to take the tour of the grounds where things were filmed on a tram tour you no longer can do that. Many shows on Nickelodeon were once aired at the Studios but this is also no longer the case though some shows are occasionally filmed here.
The movie theme still exists though. Of course all films portrayed are from Universals. Besides rides Universals Studios has many shows about the making of movies. This is one main difference between Universals Studios and Universals Islands of Adventure. Universals Studios has lots more shows that relate to making movies and shows. Not only does Universals Studios has shows on filming like shows about special effects, makeup, and animal actors, but it also has lots of shows as fun attractions where no educational information is given just a fun time. Some of the shows that have no educational element are Twister, and T2.
Islands of Adventure is newer and you can tell the age difference. Not only does the park look newer but the rides all seem to be obviously newer. While new rides have been added to Universals Studios many if not most of the rides are older then Islands of Adventure. Also many Universals Studios rides are just slightly tweaked or updated rides and not really new, examples are Jimmy Neutron which features a new film and different décor from the previous ride but is in fact the same ride even the movements of the seats are the same. Disaster is also just an update of the previous Earthquake ride. The only ride two new rides at Universals Studios are The Revenge of the Mummy, and the MIB ride.
Islands of Adventure is much more thrilling. Islands of Adventure is more ride oriented then show oriented with only one show in the park. There is a whole land for kids based on Dr. Sues but children will probably prefer the larger number of smaller lands at Universals Studios like Fievels Playland, and the Curious George area.
The major distinctions between the two parks is rides and shows with Universals Studios being show oriented and Islands of Adventure being ride oriented. Universals Studios pushes education about film making while Islands of Adventure has little to do with movies at all and offers little in way of education. For kids Universals Studios has more though Islands of Adventure does offer not only Dr. Sues but to sections of the dinosaur area are great for kids so either park will be enjoyed by kids.
I would recommend Islands of Adventure if you can only go to one park. However that depends on what you like, if you have many kids Universals Studios is good for lots of play place but bad because of long boring shows. If you care about movies then Universals Studios is good for you. If you don’t fit into any group that would prefer Universals Studios then you will likely prefer Islands of Adventure.
