Finding it difficult to locate the “perfect gift” for your unconventional sweetheart? Is your special someone not your typical girl or guy? Having a tough time figuring out what to do for them, but don’t have a lot of money to spend?
I’ve compiled a list of some alternative and fabulous Valentine gifts and ideas. I’ll also show you how to craft the perfect evening for your special someone without breaking the bank and still leave a lasting impression that will ensure a cherished memory for many Valentine’s Days to come.
How about compiling a list of all their favorite songs and burn a blank CD-R into a personalized CD or songs that remind her/him of you or your favorite time / place? Make it personal, make it heartfelt and you’ll have yourself a winner.
Make them a “From the Heart” homemade card designed and inspired by the object of your desire….if you can’t think of anything personal, try here.
Or make him/her a personalized treasure box full of things that ‘connect’ you, things that you have in common, or fill it with little trinkets of special moments or memories that you’ve shared. Maybe some shells from that special romantic beach walk, or photos/scrapbook of treasured memories (even if you don’t have 1st hand pictures, you could look online for those that relay the same message/place/time), or that first movie/concert ticket you went to together, a box full of his/her favorite pastime/sport/hobby trinkets, a homemade movie from all the pictures you have of your time together ( download Windows Movie Maker a fun and easy way to do this, you can even add your own music to set the mood, here’s Windows Movie Maker How To Center). The idea here is to make it personal, something you’ve spent some time thinking about. You know the old adage; “It’s the thought that counts”…and it’s just as true now as when it was first said. A thoughtful gift is always appreciated much more than an expensive thrown-together gift idea.
Still haven’t found what you’re looking for?
How about creating a delightfully stimulating evening that she/he will never forget?
Are you wondering how in the world you could do that? Here are some tips and ideas to make a night to remember just for her/him.
Okay, first off, start your preparations early (you’ll need time to think this through to make it personal, and you don’t want to be scurrying around at the last minute).
Begin by making a list of all her/his favorites (i.e. music, movies, scents, foods, pictures, etc.). Narrow it down to one’s you know melt his/her heart. This may be difficult for some of you, but don’t get discouraged. Even an attempt at this will tell your significant sweetheart that you’ve put in the time and consideration just for them and will definitely score you some points.
After you’ve made your list, decide which foods would work the best for your homemade dinner (or choose one’s you can cook), and make a grocery list. If you’re still stuck and can’t think of your own recipes, here’s a great place to start. Buy your ingredients at least the day before so you have plenty of time to put it all together.
Then, compile the music for your special night, whether you burn your own, or sift through the stacks of favorites, make sure you’ve got them ready to go the night before.
Buy his/her new fav, or pull out that old favorite DVD or movie of his/hers and have it ready too, just in case. Or, as previously stated, make your own.
Plan your dinner to your special someone’s likes, i.e. if he/she like appetizers or little tidbits of different things, or a specific dish that you know he/she will love, a long drawn out romantic dinner, or a short and sweet tasting with lots of time for other things. If you can’t think of anything, try this romantic dinner for two recipes. Or if you’re feeling adventurous, try your hand at Homemade Conversation Hearts;

Fondant Sweet Hearts:
After your special meal, arrange for some quality time to kick back, relax and enjoy each other’s company. You can give her/him a romantic massage with some sensual oils. And follow up with a romantic shower, or bubble bath for two, or a homemade spa treatment (try The Sensual Spa; Natural, Organic, Edible, Homemade Bath and Body Treatmentsby Noreen Margaret, buy the book here) Make your spa treatment complete with these cool spa lights to give ambiance to your homemade spa. (Don’t forget to put on the background music!)
Or make your own massage blend with a personalized all natural massage oil using these oils: (You can also use these recipes – minus the carrier oils- directly in your bath or spa for a lovely addition to the ambiance – just half the essential oil amounts and add directly to your bath or spa).
2 drops Jasmine essential oil
3 drops Sandalwood essential oil
2 drops Patchouli essential oil
2 drops of Ylang Ylang essential oil
3 drops of Rose essential oil
blended with 4 ounces of carrier oil, such as grapeseed, jojoba, fractionated coconut oil, or a mixture of each.
2 drops of Cedarwood essential oil
3 drops of Sandalwood essential oil
2 drops of Patchouli essential oil
2 drops of Bergamot essential oil
3 drops of Lavender essential oil
blended with 4 ounces of carrier oil, such as grapeseed, jojoba, fractionated coconut oil, or a mixture of each
Or if those don’t “float your boat” try this warming bath recipe that both sexes can enjoy:
2 drops Benzoin or Sandalwood essential oil
2 drops Ginger essential oil
4 drops Sweet Orange essential oil
Add these 8 drops of essential oils directly to a warm (or hot if you prefer) bath and disperse well – or blend with 1 TBLS grapeseed oil and/or 1 TBLS unscented bubble bath and add to a warm bath. Soak in the bath for 15-20 minutes inhaling the vapors. Do not get bath water in your eyes as it will sting. This spa treatment is especially excellent for winter time or when you have been suffering from a sickness, cold or chills.
After all of that, I’m sure you’ve made your Valentine’s more special than you ever imagined and will reap the benefits all year long!

Love Until The Roses Die
When your girlfriend is feeling low or you had a fight this romantic tip will work out just marvelous. Go to a florist and buy a bunch of red roses. Also along with it buy a fake rose and put it in the center of your bouquet. Put a note saying, “I will love you until all the roses die.” She will definitely be surprised and at the end of it she’ll simply adore you. After all she’ll know that one red rose will never die like your eternal love.
After preparing a nice romantic home cooked dinner for your sweetheart, enjoy a cozy candle light meal and then make up a phoney “bill” for your “services”; slide your “bill” across the table after eating and wink saying something like, “What?, Did you think this would be free?” or something along those lines, and make out the bill to read something like; “Salad: One kiss. Main course: Eight kisses. Dessert: Three kisses. (Tipping is strongly encouraged)”. Your significant other will never mind these expensive dinners ever.
Sprinkle some perfume on a bulb. And when the bulb is turned on it will fill the room with its fragrance. Isn’t it a truly romantic setting? So let this Valentine be the beginning to a life long love with these romantic tips brought together especially for you.
