The first boss you encounter in Valkyria Chronicles will be a regular enemy throughout the game. Unfortunately, you don’t have the necessary tools to defeat it easily just yet. Here are some tips to help you defeat the tank boss in the Chapter 2: Escape from Bruhl mission of Valkyria Chronicles.
With a tank, the enemy squad is threatening to destroy a gate that would put the evacuating Bruhl citizens in danger.
Destroy the enemy’s tank.
– 20 turns passed
– Welkin dies
– Alicia dies
– The gate is destroyed
All units are positioned automatically. You start with Alicia and two other scouts near the south gate.
Play Defensively in the Beginning
Crotch behind the sandbag covers at all time and let the enemy run towards you. No matter what, do not move away from the gate area. Send the two Town Watchmen to the left and leave Alicia to the right. This way, the two men will take care of any enemy ground units running towards the gate while Alicia will be safe from any fire. Take care of any enemy ground unit standing next to the gate and heal Alicia when necessary (the two Town Watchmen are inconsequential in Valkyria Chronicles).
At the beginning of the third turn, Welkin will arrive in the northeast corner of the map with his own tank, the Edelweiss. Controlling tanks in Valkyria Chronicles are unlike any other units. For one, you need 2 CP to use one. In addition, tanks have different hit points for their body and treads. Treads will affect the tank’s range while complete depletion of your body’s hit point will result in total destruction. Finally, tanks can be destroyed easily with Anti-armor shell if you target the core located at its backside.
Destroying the Opposition’s Tank
The Edelweiss will be your ticket to victory for the first boss in Valkyria Chronicles. Unless Alicia is in danger, use the CP on your tank and quickly make your way to the south gate. If you have one CP left for the round, save it for the next. Take out any ground units you see on the way with your mortar attack.
Once you reach the enemy’s tank, aim at its core located behind its back (the tank should be facing the other way). Keep in mind that your anti-armor shells are unlimited; thus, you can use it multiple times in a turn. After about two shots from the Edelweiss, you will destroy the enemy’s tank.
Congratulations on defeating the tank boss in the Chapter 2: Escape from Bruhl mission of Valkyria Chronicles.
