Russell Peters newest DVD/CD release is a combo package including a DVD and CD of his record breaking Home coming Tour at the WaMu Theatre at Madison Square Garden. Russell Peters is truly at the top of his game with plenty of great comedy poking fun at all sorts of ethnic stereotypes without being offensive.
I am not talking the ethnic jokes that people do to take down other races, these are ones that everyone knows and can really understand. Russell Peters does a great job of describing the differences between being Indian and growing up Indian as well as dishing on other cultures and stereotypes.
Russell takes ethnic jokes not to a new level but in a new direction and does so without offending anyone least of all his own Indian nationality. His comedy takes the political correctness out of ethnic jokes and tells some truly hilarious jokes about different races without offending at all.
His one hour and 18 minute show starts off with Asians and runs the gambit of Western Europe hitting the Indians, Jewish and even Arabs. His jokes are not the offensive down turning of racially motivated hate but he tells some common misconceptions about people and things we may think but know are not true.
He has also gone to several countries such as Dubai, India and Arabia in his travels and tells some really funny tales of his adventures such as the overwhelming odor when trying to return to his native India. If you have never seen one of Russell Peters acts this is a great introduction to his funny and insightful routines.
Having never seen him before I was a bit apprehensive at watching this as I am not exactly the most open minded when it comes to comedians who use foul language or just uses race in their act just to get the shock factor. Russell does not use race against anyone but just tells it like it is in a way that really does not give offense even to the deaf.
He just shows the world like it truly is and without opinion gives his view and take on various things including some of the signs used by the deaf to indicate other races. This is a true comedian artist at work and Russell Peters does a magnificent job with his comedy for a side splitting good time.
The Russell Peters DVD and CD edition comes with the full hour and 18 minute show on both video DVD and a CD as well as several extras. The video comes with additional standup routine clips and is well worth watching with a couple of additional content clips that did not quite fit into the main feature.
There are two main routines one about men and women, relationships and what we really think with the other content Support the Troops. The Support the Troops routine is about Russell’s trip to the USS Eisenhower and his thoughts about actually flying to the ship and experiences on the way.
The DVD and CD Russell Peters: Red, White and Brown is a great special combo from Comedy Central featuring Canadian comedian Russell Peters and his off brand humor. This is a great collection from a guy who pokes fun at his own race as well as plenty of others in a hilarious and non offensive way.
