Week 14: QB Rankings Fantasy Football 2008

by yup tab

Rankings & Projections of the Top 40 QB for week 14. Below are rankings for fantasy football QB based on matchups and potential fantasy football point outcomes in week 14. Use these rankings and projections to help you decide which QB to start in week 14.

QUARTERBACK RANKINGS – WEEK 14

1. Kurt Warner – Ari = StL
Warner hasn’t been MVP-like the past two weeks, but a home game against the bad St. Louis defense should get him back on track. 300-350 passing yards, 3 touchdowns.

2. Drew Brees – NO = Atl
Brees has thrown his share of interceptions this year, but the touchdowns and yards always seem to be there. 300 passing yards, 2 touchdowns.

3. Jay Cutler – Den = KC
After a few so-so weeks, Cutler finally posted the type of game we came to expect from him after the first few games of the year. Another 300 passing yards and 2 touchdowns in likely this week.

4. Aaron Rodgers – GB = Hou
With the running game struggling in Green Bay, you can bet Aaron Rodgers and the passing attack will be out in full force against the Texans this week, in what is a must win game for the Packers. 300 passing yards, 2 touchdowns.

5. Peyton Manning – Ind = Cin
To say Manning and the Colts offense struggled last week against a bad Cleveland defense would be an understatement. And if Manning throws two interceptions and no touchdown passes against the Cleveland secondary, its hard to trust him putting up worthy fantasy stats no matter who the opponent is. 250 passing yards, 1-2 touchdowns.

6. Philip Rivers – SD = Oak
After a scorching start to the season, Rivers has hit a roadblock right when fantasy owners need him most. Lets hope a matchup at home against Oakland can get him back on track. 250 passing yards, 1-2 touchdowns.

7. Brett Favre – NYJ = @SF
This looks like an excellent matchup for Favre on paper, but paper doesn’t win games for fantasy teams. Still the potential is there for a great game from Favre. 200-250 passing yards, 1-2 touchdowns.

8. Eli Manning – NYG = Phi
Big divisional matchup for the Giants, and you can bet the Eagles will put as much pressure on Eli as they can. 200-250 passing yards, 1-2 touchdowns.

9. Matt Ryan – Atl = @NO
Ryan has looked very good all year, and a matchup against the Saints defense should lead him to another good fantasy week. 200-250 passing yards, 1-2 touchdowns.

10. Matt Cassel – NE = @Sea
After a rough outing last week, Cassel and the New England offense should rebound nicely against the struggling Seattle defense. 200 passing yards, 1-2 touchdowns on the low end; 300 passing yards, 2-3 touchdowns on the high end.

11. Tony Romo – Dal = @Pit
Much like Matt Cassel struggled against the Steelers defense last week, Romo should have a tough fantasy week this week. 200 passing yards, 1 touchdown.

12. Ben Roethlisberger – Pit = Dal
Big Ben hasn’t exactly been a fantasy star this year, so expecting another so-so fantasy week from him is likely. 200 passing yards, 1 touchdown.

13. Tyler Thigpen – KC = @Den
Thigpen had another bad fantasy game last week, but a matchup against the Denver defense makes him worthy of starting on most fantasy teams this week. 200 passing yards, 1 touchdown on the low end; 275 passing yards, 2 touchdowns on the high end.

14. Donovan McNabb – Phi = @NYG
After a huge rebound last week, McNabb and the Eagles offense will face a huge test against the stingy NY Giants defense this week. If one thing is certain, don’t expect a repeat of last weeks 4 touchdown performance.

15. Joe Flacco – Bal = Was
Flacco has looked very good lately, but remember he is a rookie, and you just never know what you are going to get with him each week. Still a matchup against Washington looks very favorable. 200 passing yards, 1 touchdown.

16. Kerry Collins – Ten = Cle
Another great matchup for the Titans offense, but with the running game clicking once again, Collins will be handing the ball off more than passing it. 175-200 passing yards, maybe 1 touchdown.

17. David Garrard – Jac = @Chi

18. Gus Frerotte – Min = @Det

19. Kyle Orton – Chi = Jac

20. Chad Pennington – Mia = @Buf

21. JaMarcus Russell – Oak = @SD

22. Jason Campbell – Was = @Bal

23. Jeff Garcia – TB = @Car

24. Jake Delhomme – Car = TB

25. Matt Schaub – Hou = @GB
If he is back from injury and plays, this is a good matchup for him.

26. Shaun Hill – SF = NYJ

27. Trent Edwards – Buf = Mia
Injury may force him to miss this weeks game, but bench him even if he does play.

28. Marc Bulger – StL = @Ari
Bulger’s fall from fantasy grace has been drastic. Something tells me the Rams wish they had Kurt Warner on their team once again.

29. Sage Rosenfels – Hou = @GB

30. Matt Hasselbeck – Sea = NE

31. Ryan Fitzpatrick – Cin = @Ind

32. Daunte Culpepper – Det = Min

33. Ken Dorsey – Cle = @Ten
After injuries to Brady Quinn and Derek Anderson, Dorsey is the lone ranger standing at QB for the Browns this week.

34. JP Losman – Buf = Mia
Injury to Trent Edwards should give Losman a start this week.

35. Byron Leftwich – Pit = Dal

36. Drew Stanton – Det = Min

37. Seneca Wallace – Sea = NE

38. JT O’Sullivan – SF = NYJ

39. Drew Henson – Det = Min

40. Trent Green – StL = @Ari

OUT:
Derek Anderson – Cle = @Ten
Brady Quinn – Cle = @Ten
Dan Orlovsky – Det = Min
Carson Palmer – Cin = @Ind

WEEK 14 – TE Rankings

WEEK 14 – K Rankings

WEEK 14 – D Rankings

Last Week’s Results – Week 13:
Here is a follow-up of my QB rankings from last week.

1. Peyton Manning – Ind = @Cle
Didn’t put up great stats last week, but an easy matchup against Cleveland should have him driving fantasy teams into the playoffs. 300 passing yards, 2-3 touchdowns.
Week 13 = 15-21, 125 passing yards, 2 interceptions

2. Kurt Warner – Ari = @Phi
Going against a struggling Philadelphia team on Thanksgiving Day should net Warner 300 passing yards and 2 touchdowns.
Week 13 = 21-39, 235 passing yards, 3 touchdowns, 3 interceptions

3. Tony Romo – Dal = Sea
Romo reestablished himself last week as a top flight fantasy QB, and a matchup against the Seattle defense should have him posting around 275-300 passing yards and 2 touchdowns.
Week 13 = 22-24, 331 passing yards, 3 touchdowns, 1 interception; 14 rushing yards

4. Eli Manning – NYG = @Was
Even without Plaxico Burress and Brandon Jacobs last week, Eli went on to have a great fantasy week. Expect another solid performance this week against the division rival Redskins. 250-275 passing yards, 2 touchdowns.
Week 13 = 21-34, 305 passing yards, 1 touchdown, 1 interception

5. Drew Brees – NO = @TB
Finally came around Monday night and posted another typical Brees fantasy game against one of the best secondary’s in the NFL. He has another tough matchup at Tampa Bay this week, but 250-300 passing yards and 2 touchdowns is likely.
Week 13 = 25-47, 296 passing yards, 2 touchdowns, 3 interceptions

6. Aaron Rodgers – GB = Car
He didn’t look great last week, but he still posted enough yards and touchdowns to deserve this ranking and a place on starting fantasy rosters. 250 passing yards, 1-2 touchdowns.
Week 13 = 29-45, 298 passing yards, 3 touchdowns, 1 interception; 26 rushing yards

7. Matt Ryan – Atl = @SD
Ryan has looked very good all year, and a matchup against the worst passing defense in the NFL this year makes him a good play this week. 250 passing yards, 1-2 touchdowns.
Week 13 = 17-23, 207 passing yards, 2 touchdowns

8. Jay Cutler – Den = @NYJ
After taking a thumping to last week against Oakland, Cutler and the Denver wide receivers need to rebound quickly if fantasy owners are going to be able to trust them come playoff time. 250 passing yards, 1 touchdown.
Week 13 = 27-43, 357 passing yards, 2 touchdowns, 1 interception

9. Philip Rivers – SD = Atl
After a scorching start to the season passing the ball, Rivers has been good but not great in recent weeks. Expect another good, but not great, performance this week. 250 passing yards, 1 touchdown.
Week 13 = 17-30, 149 passing yards; 18 rushing yards

10. Brett Favre – NYJ = Den
If JaMarcus Russell can have success against the Broncos defense last week, then the future hall of famer should make them look even worse this week. 250 passing yards, 1 touchdown on the low end, assuming the Jets run the ball more than pass it.
Week 13 = 23-43, 247 passing yards, 1 interception

11. Ben Roethlisberger – Pit = @NE
Big Ben hasn’t exactly been a fantasy star this year, so expecting another decent but not great fantasy week from him likely. 200 passing yards, 1 touchdown.
Week 13 = 17-33, 179 passing yards, 2 touchdowns, 1 interception

12. David Garrard – Jac = @Hou
Garrard hasn’t been very good this year, but a matchup against Houston makes him starter worthy this week. 200 passing yards and 1 touchdown on the low end, 300 total yards and 2 touchdowns on the high end.
Week 13 = 25-35, 287 passing yards, 1 touchdown, 1 interception; 10 rushing yards, 1 fumble

13. Tyler Thigpen – KC = @Oak
Well he finally had an “off” game last week, but he STILL managed to pass for 3 touchdowns. And while Oakland is fresh off a masterful game last week against Cutler and the Denver offense, I don’t think their defense can put up two great showings in back to back weeks. 250-300 passing yards and 2 touchdowns on the high end, but if Oakland’s defense played like they did last week, 175 passing yards and maybe 1 touchdown is more likely.
Week 13 = 15-22, 162 passing yards, 1 interception; 48 rushing yards

14. Trent Edwards – Buf = SF
After a horrible past month of fantasy stats, Edwards become nearly universally un-owned in many leagues. That was until his 4 touchdown outburst last week. A matchup against the bad 49ers defense could net Edwards 2 touchdowns. 225 passing yards and 2 touchdowns. But remember, Edwards is a complete risk play, considering he has had just 1 good fantasy week in the past 5 weeks.
Week 13 = 10-21, 112 passing yards

15. Kerry Collins – Ten = @Det
Great matchup for the Titans offense, but like any other team playing Detroit, Tennessee should finally get their running game back on track, thus limiting Collins’ throws and fantasy potential. 200 passing yards, 1 touchdown.
Week 13 = 11-18, 127 passing yards; 12 rushing yards, 1 fumble

16. Chad Pennington – Mia = @StL
Great matchup for Pennington makes him an excellent sleeper pick and spot starter this week. 200 passing yards, 1 touchdown on the low end, 250-300 passing yards, 2 touchdowns on the high end.
Week 13 = 13-23, 166 passing yards; 15 rushing yards

17. Jeff Garcia – TB = NO
Not sure what happened last week, but Garcia and the Tampa offense looked terrible against the Detroit defense. He has a very good matchup this week against New Orleans, but its hard to trust him after last weeks disaster.
Week 13 = 9-23, 119 passing yards, 1 touchdown; 42 rushing yards

18. Matt Cassel – NE = Pit
Something tells me the 400 passing yard streak will come to an abrupt end this week. Anything more than 250 passing yards and 2 touchdowns would make Cassel look like a fantasy savior. Reserve expectations to just 175 passing yards and maybe 1 touchdown against the great Pittsburgh defense.
Week 13 = 19-39, 169 passing yards, 2 interceptions; 2 fumbles

19. Joe Flacco – Bal = @Cin
Simply put, Flacco is getting the job done in Baltimore. As usual, fantasy owners can expect 175 passing yards and 1 touchdown either passing or rushing.
Week 13 = 19-29, 280 passing yards, 2 touchdowns; 15 rushing yards

20. Kyle Orton – Chi = @Min
Week 13 = 11-29, 153 passing yards, 2 touchdowns, 3 interceptions

21. Brady Quinn – Cle = Ind
Finger injury may limit his fantasy potential for the rest of the season, but he is still starting which is a good sign.
Week 13 = NA

22. Jason Campbell – Was = NYG
If you are even considering whether or not to start Campbell, let me make this crystal clear…BENCH him.
Week 13 = 23-38, 232 passing yards, 1 interception; 38 rushing yards

23. Donovan McNabb – Phi = Ari
Who knows what to expect from McNabb right now. If you have other options I would definitely use them. Guys like Chad Pennington, Tyler Thigpen, and Joe Flacco would all be better options than McNabb this week.
Week 13 = 27-39, 260 passing yards, 4 touchdowns; 24 rushing yards

24. Jake Delhomme – Car = @GB
Week 13 = 12-17, 177 passing yards; 1 rushing touchdown

25. Sage Rosenfels – Hou = Jac
Week 13 = 14-24, 200 passing yards, 1 touchdown, 1 interception

26. Shaun Hill – SF = @Buf
Week 13 = 14-23, 161 passing yards, 1 touchdown

27. JaMarcus Russell – Oak = KC
Week 13 = 10-28, 132 passing yards; 37 rushing yards

28. Kevin Kolb – Phi = Ari
If you are in a keeper league, this is a guy you want to pick up NOW.
Week 13 = NA

29. Matt Hasselbeck – Sea = @Dal
Week 13 = 22-38, 287 passing yards, 1 interception; 10 rushing yards

30. Gus Frerotte – Min = Chi
Week 13 = 16-25, 210 passing yards, 1 touchdown, 1 interception; 1 rushing touchdown

31. Ryan Fitzpatrick – Cin = Bal
Week 13 = 12-31, 124 passing yards; 29 rushing yards

32. Daunte Culpepper – Det = Ten
If you expected him to do well after Detroit signed him….then you haven’t been around NFL football for a couple of years. Culpepper is playing terrible and shouldn’t even be considered an option in nearly all fantasy leagues.
Week 13 = 13-26, 134 passing yards, 1 touchdown, 1 interception

33. Marc Bulger – StL = Mia
Week 13 = 16-35, 149 passing yards, 3 interceptions

34. Derek Anderson – Cle = Ind
Week 13 = 16-26, 110 passing yards, 1 fumble

35. Drew Stanton – Det = Ten
Week 13 = NA

36. Seneca Wallace – Sea = @Dal
Week 13 = NA

37. JT O’Sullivan – SF = @Buf
Week 13 = NA

38. Rex Grossman – Chi = @Min
Week 13 = NA

39. Byron Leftwich – Pit = @NE
Week 13 = NA

40. Trent Green – StL = Mia
Week 13 = NA
