I recently received an email inviting me to apply to be an Associated Content Category Editor. Category Editor is a new leadership opportunity for content producers who are experienced and who have proven their writing skills.
According to the email, Category Editors will work closely with the AC Staff to feature the best articles in each category. The categories to choose from are: Arts & Entertainment, Automotive, Business & Finance, Health & Wellness, Home Improvement, Lifestyle, Sports, Technology and Travel.
It sounds like a great opportunity. You will be gaining experience as an editor and will be choosing the best content and content producers to be featured in your particular area. As an AC Category Editor, you will be responsible for the following tasks:
- Read through the newly published articles from your category on a regular schedule.
- Once a month you will be required to work with AC’s programming team to choose the top 5 content pieces by different content producers to feature on your category’s front page and each sub-category.
- Learn who the best producers are in your category and reach out to them on a regular basis.
- Submit posts in the forum section related to your category and use it to encourage interest from other content producers.
There is no pay for this position. However, there are many valuable benefits to holding an editor post. Your personal work will have a chance to gain greater exposure. Besides earning a “Category Editor” badge on your profile, you will be able to feature one piece of your own content per sub-category on the weeks when you are assigned to feature content. These articles may also be featured on the Associated Content main home page.
At least one time per month, you will receive calls for content opportunities that are created exclusively for you (the calls will be pertaining to your specified category). You will be invited to have a seat on AC’s new CP Advisory Committee. As a committee member, you will have the chance to learn about new Associated Content programs before the information is released to the public. You will also be asked for feedback on new program ideas.
AC Category editors will be able to earn extra bonuses by being enrolled in a referral program. WOW! This sounds like a great opportunity to get more involved with Associated Content. If I could quit my full time job, I would jump at the chance to help shape the best website on earth. Right now, though I will stick with being a plain old content producer.
