So you have been on the server for a while and are interested in getting involved with its intricate networking of staff, huh? Well, thankfully for the server, not everyone qualifies for a position at World Chess Live (WCL). Here are the requirements to become a member of our staff.
Must have Six Months with NO Negative Comments in File
For obvious reasons, disruptive or otherwise bad users are not eligible for a staff position on WCL. The whole point of this rule is to assure WCL administration that the applicant is capable of behaving for a substantial period of time before being considered for staff. Each time an administrator contacts a user, a note is put into their user file. Not all notes are bad notes, of course, but negative notes look very bad for anyone who is interested in becoming a Helper or Tournament Manager on WCL.
Must be at least Seventeen Years of Age
In order to maintain a professional feel, WCL staff members must be at least 17 years old, and possess the good server record mentioned above. Younger youth tend to lose control easier and be less logical at times than someone approaching the age of twenty. Of course, this is not always the case, but the age requirement is a hard and fast rule that the WCL administration cannot bend on. If you meet the first two requirements, read on!
Must Possess a Strong Working Knowledge of the Server
As a WCL Helper or Tournament Manager, you will be encountering many new members who will have questions. For obvious reasons, WCL would like to employ staff members who can answer these questions quickly and professionally so that the user finds what they need and stays happy. Generally, the more time an applicant has spent on the server, the better their knowledge base will be. If interested in a position, keep your eye on the Help and Tournament channels to see how current staff operates, and in this way learn crucial things about the server.
Must be Friendly and Actually Interested in Helping Others
If accepted, you will be joining a team of friendly, positive people who absolutely enjoy solving problems and answering questions. WCL aims to employ only the best users, and that means ones who know how to smile through hard work. WCL staffers are all volunteers, and they represent the server each time a member is contacted by them. One negative incident can send an angry member to another server, which is something WCL does not want happening!
WCL administration has sole discretion when it comes to choosing staff members, so it is in the best interest of the applicant to have a clean record and be approachable. If administration feels the applicant might not possess the server knowledge necessary, a small test may be performed to ensure that the interested party does indeed have the skills necessary to help others in need.
